The dude just won Manager of the year, and every one of his fighters are singing his praise. Look at the final press conference where Santa Cruz praised him so much that even Shaeffer joined in.

I'm starting to think some of the so-called fans are Bad for boxing.

He didn't win 'manager of the year'. It's just that Santa Cruz felt that there SHOULD be an award for that and given to Haymon. He feels Haymon is the GOAT adviser.

You should've just said Schaefer said so afterwards but the video doesn't show it. I watched two different clips of the same sequence, but from different angles, and didn't see Schaefer saying any of that.

B) a manager----
(i) to have a direct or indirect financial interest in the promotion of a boxer; or
(ii) to be employed by or receive compensation or other benefits from a promoter, except for amounts received as consideration under the manager***8217;s contract with the boxer.


He's referred to as an adviser, which is a smart way to avoid having to be licensed by an athletic commission and to skirt the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act. It's illegal in the U.S. to serve as a promoter and a manager, though Haymon does both.

How does having two of his fighters fight violate that?

Anyway, Haymon apparently is in fact licensed manager.
