its a good pay day for leo santa cruz. thats the stand out of those figures. but it is a mandatory defence on a ppv card. i have high hopes for santa cruz. i think he will become as much as a five weight world champ. hes tall and will fill out in the years to come. could see flying through the weights. many more big pay days for him hes got an all action style soon to be a main event fighter. hes with al haymon and he will guide him to greatness.

I think both Angulo and Canelo are going to get more when it's all said and done.
That's true enough. They both should've got bigger guarantees, though. Between Canelo's stamina issues and Angulo's complete disregard for defense, this fight is gonna take alot out of both of them the longer it goes.

Pitiful numbers. Even Chavez Jr made more than this in his first PPV.

it's probably because they aren't expecting the PPV to do all that well because those pay days are basically an HBO fight.

I bet Canelo will get the upside of the PPV (whatever they determine the upside to be) so his purse could grow a lot larger if the PPV has a lot of guys.

with figures like that they could do 250k buys and still make money.

Its his first time as the A-side headlining a ppv. I think theyre testing the waters. With good numbers and gate, he can get (earn?) more.

Showtime cant throw money around like HBO.

Yeah, I guess Canelo is getting 80% of the PPV earnings and GBP is getting 20%. The way I understand PPVs work is the promoter gets half and the cable companies get half of each PPV. So if a PPV is $50 that's 25$ for GBP, $20 of which would go to Canelo. So if the fight does 100K PPV buys then that's $2 million for Canelo on top of his $1.25 million guarantee. Pretty good set up for everyone involved in my opinion.
