It was good tactics on Froch's part - he won all the early rounds and thus, the fight.

Yes, the stoppage was bad. However, Froch was enjoying his strongest period of the fight. It's not like he wasn't coming back into it. Who knows if Groves could have ridden out the storm or if Froch had enough in the tank to pour on late pressure, but to say Froch *only* won because of the gift stoppage is a total nonsense - and I think think the stoppage was atrocious.
At the time of the stoppage, the only fighter looking in danger of being knocked out was George Groves. You can't deny that if you are objective, no more than you can deny that Froch got a pasting for 7 rounds. However fights are 12 rounds, not 7. At the end of the day, it is Froch that is proven to have the stamina and strong finishes over 12 rounds, not Groves.
To say that Groves had that fight won is claptrap.
Let's hope we get to find out decisively in the rematch.

Regardless, I don't really think Fitzpatrick believes what he's saying. Carl Froch is a cool cat and he's not going to implode at all - he'll give it his best.
But there's something about Groves that gets under Carl's skin, it's uncanny.
groves should thank that ref because now he gets to play and get paid for another day.

With 3 rounds and 1 minute left he was so getting his head pummelled into the ropes the same way Bute or Taylor did. Its undeniable.
