Toney is ATG based on skills alone, and his resume of being champ at 160,168, and cruiser, plus a nice run at heavy,,, He is an ATG and his wins over a prime nunn and mccallum solidify him for me... Winning titles and having long reigns is great but is not the only criteria for ATG,, Burley is an ATG but his title reigns are nothing

True, too early on that,, i think he is on the way, he is already a HOFer IMO, He will clean out the rest of 168 over the next year or so and then eventually will make his way up to 175 and i think he wins titles there as well.. But yes it is abit early for him

Roy Jones(yea he is still active)

IMO these are the only active all time greats and it was and is an honor to have witnessed them
Good list. I would maybe take away wlad and marquez is borderline to get in.

james toney is an atg hands down.

michael nunn, mike mccallum, vassily jirov, reggie johnson, iran barkley, evander holyfiled.. etc

thats an excellent resume and there are plenty of other solid wins on it as well. i know he has plenty of losses too, some against less than spectacular opposition but so does roberto duran. doesnt change the fact that when they turn up there are but a handful of fighters in history that can compete let alone beat them which they both proved on several occasions.

(btw im not saying toney is comparable to duran in terms of greatness, just used him to make my point).

marquez is clearly an ATG, not even going to argue that. how is one of the three or four best mexican fighters in history not an ATG?

I think you just about nailed it. Can't think of any to add, and dspite RJJ having boxed way beyond when he shoulda hung them up, it doesn't detract from what he was at his best. Couldn't take any of those names away either. These are the guys who in 30 or 40 yars time are gonna be talked about as the legends of this era IMO no matter the s#it that gets talked about them now.

It's always hard to say what the fans of the future will say about todays guys, and not our place to judge, but I'd say all these guys (nearing the end of their careers) tick all the boxes almost irrespective of what happens from here on in.

There's plenty of doubt about Ward. Most of it based to his inactivity and reluctance to seize the opportunities which could prove his greatness since winning the Super Six. He needs to get going and make up for lost time.

And to those who don't think so, James Toney is definitely an ATG. Definitely. Marquez should be too IMO.
