I think Martinez wins in a very exciting fight. I can see Cotto winning if he attacks the body early and slows Martinez's movement.
But I'm still having problems seeing Cotto above 154. Assuming Martinez hasn't fallen off big time skills wise from his injuries, I think he takes it.

& What makes you think Cotto won't be landing 3 or 4 punch combs? Martinez is standing right there and the key to this fight that everybody seems to forget is that this fight is personal and the last time I seen Cotto in a personal fight was against Margacheato part II and he's about the same size Martinez is. So I see no problem with Cotto landing bombas and winning some rounds on FREAKING RICAN WEEKEND... PUNETA.....WARRRRRR COTTO.....

Martinez won't stand right in front of Cotto. He'll move. When Cotto gets in punching range, Martinez will hit him with bombs. Don't forget how Trout beat Cotto: Movement, straight to the body, smothering and turning. All of that was demonstrated by Martinez in his fight with Chavez. What people don't seem to realize is that Cotto lacks the power of guys like Pavlik and Chavez. They had over 10 lbs on Martinez. Even then, only Chavez's hardest punch could hurt Martinez. Cotto will be about 20 lbs lighter than them. He probably won't have the power to hurt Martinez.

You make some good points but I don't respect them.. You can call me crazy but I truly think Cotto was being trained the wrong way by THE CU****UY and with all the WARS Cotto has been in has taken a lot out of him but the way he's being trained today will be the difference IMO in the Cotto you saw against Trout and the Cotto you'll see today. By the way Cotto as we speak is packing his bags and headed to the Philippines to train with Manny.. We will see a different Cotto and with this fight being personal and that Left Jab.. I see a long night for Martinez..

come on Trout put a clinic on Cotto. He basically did whatever he wanted to Cotto. Trout is a slick south paw, Martinez is even better but Martinez has real punching power.

I don't see Cotto's defense getting much better. at this point in his career Cotto is who he is. Roach can add a few wrinkles but Cotto is who he is.

honestly if Martinez is healthy I see Cotto getting dismantled and KOed. a healthy Martinez is too big, too much power and too much speed.

Cotto is a ballzy guy and he has a punchers chance against a healthy Martinez. if Martinez is hurt again the fight becomes a lot closer

Good points, respect to both fighters but especially to Cotto. If he gets inside and works the body early, he has a chance. That's were the sparring with the Pac-man might come in handy. Sparring a lightning quick southpaw is exactly what he needs.

Telling you this is MC's last bg payday.

A swan song. He has nothing for Martinez. Roach knows it too.
When Freddie was training Jr. he even said "Martinez is a different type of animal.
I also noticed that the only ones on this site that are rooting for MC are the PR fan base. I feel you. He's your peeps, & you have that PR pride.
But Martinez is something of a nightmare for your man. Sergio is the bigger man, the faster man, the real power puncher in this match.
He will beat Miguel to the punch everytime. Cotto will be punch shy. You see it all the time. You can picture Roach tell Miguel to let his hands go, but Sergio will be too overwelming. He has a pt to prove to you, the public, his critics, the media, & GGG, & his camp.
Kinda feel sorry for Miguel in this fight. It might be another Margarito beatdwn, with Roach not sending him out for the 8th, or 9th rd....

Cotto is far more than likely going to be the more active of the two and he'll undoubtedly do everything necessary to put himself in a position to win but how long will he survive? How long until Sergio starts putting those left hands and right hooks on him? Pretty sure I know what'll happen when he does. Should be interesting.
