Martinez is the sissy? cotto was the one that quit once before and the one who acts like a sissy every time he looses a fight. Runs out of the ring and dosent even give the fans the post fight interview like a sore loser he is.

i know its off topic, but i really think if cotto couldve kept going and went the distance, if he did though i think he would be retired today.

I am not counting Cotto out, I actually respect him a lot.

But Martinez had a bad knee way before his fight against Chavez, and he broke his left hand in the 4th round of that fight too. And even with all those injuries he toyed with Chavez for 11 rounds, and in the end he got too confident and made a mistake,... and Junior couldn´t capitalize it because he was high or whatever, even when he was like 20 pounds heavier than Martinez.

Martinez in his prime was a beast, quick, and with incredible reflexes and with a very high ring IQ. And he is the bigger, more powerful man. I have no doubts in my mind that if the two of them were in their primes Martinez would have won easily.

But now i don´t know, it´s 50/50 fight for me right now.

What´s about that silly catchweight at 159? It doesn´t take anything away from Martinez and a lot of people are gonna use it to give less credit to Cotto. Very ****** decision from Team Cotto.

I hear you, but lets not forget that PRIME SERGIO your talking about lost to margacheato....and cotto is a very good boxer puncher and with roach in his corner cotto is gonna sit down on those punches man, martinez is a great fighter but he uses his injured legs alot and fights with his hands down, imo only one fighter gets awayvwjth that style and its mayweather....martinez been dropped in pretty much in every one of his last 5 fights so i feel cotto gonna do the same.

Thats the point incase you're missing it. The disaster is he's making demands as if he IS favored to win but will in all likelyhood lose which makes the posturing look terrible on his part. Basically setting himself up for failure and embarassment and putting more pressure on himself. Think about it... Martinez and Cotto have a huge amount of haters and if Sergio crushes him, the backlash from Martinez leaks to cotto. You'll hear things like "Cotto always chokes at the big game." Or "Cotto sucks martinez had to cherry pick. Or "Cotto didnt belong in the same ring and has no credibility losing every big fight and wanting the Floyd treatment" blah blah. Cotto MIGHT become a cherry pick if he loses this fight. A tuneup for GGG or Canelo/Floyd... Thats awful.

I like both of these fighters a great deal and it's cool to see them on the big stage but.. Cotto is in a MUST win situation against someone who is (even at 75-ish percent) expected to crush him. Why add a catchweight and devalue an uphill battle if you DO win is the point. Why demand the champion treatment if you're not considered a worthy challenger to many? Honestly if Cotto loses does he even have a credible career as a relatively top fighter anymore? And if he gets crushed what does that for his health? I wish both of these guys the best and hope neither suffers serious damage...but if Martinez is anywhere near his old self it's kind of a worrying fight for my dude Cotto. I just hope it's not brutal for either. Sergio is a good dude and theyve both given a lot to the sport. *I* personally wouldnt be mad at any result so long as neither is robbed.

Paul Williams not only went the distance, but he managed to outwork Margarito despite the hand wraps,so no excuses.
