    Mike Tyson was vastly more interesting than Mayweather..... He went after everyone, did not duck anyone.... He would have fought Evander Holyfield much soonerr had he not been convicted of **** in Indiana.....

    Floyd, he is an opportunity missed in my book.... If he had the goods, take on all legitimate challengers.... Tyson did.... But Mayweather went another direction. ...

      tyson at his peak was phenomenal even though that peak was very short. floyd has been consistently dominant over a very long time. but since the OP asked for PEAK the answer is clearly Tyson.

      Also people love saying that tyson has no atg wins etc but he has A LOT of very solid wins and honestly if you look at floyd you will see something similiar A LOT of very solid wins but few over a PRIME ATGs so that anti tyson argument doesn't fly. Floyd hasn't got too many wins a whole lot better than the destruction of Spinx

        I'm one of Mayweather's biggest detractors but this is an insult to him. Lets look at this objectively:

        Tyson notable wins:
        Spinks (a former LHW). HOF
        Holmes - decent win but Holmes hadn't fought in 2 years and was quite a bit past his prime. Tyson gets some credit though as Holmes had some good wins after his loss to Tyson. HOF
        Razor Ruddock - Solid wins, not great.
        Tony Tucker - Another solid win.
        Bruno - Solid, not great.

        You get the picture.

        Mayweather's notable wins:

        Corrales - huge win at the time
        Alvarez - will probably have a HOF career.
        Cotto - HOF
        Mosley - HOF
        Marquez - HOF - people will say former lightweight. The problem with this argument is that he iced pacquiao and Mayweather steps into the ring at 150 so Mayweather could fight at LW if he wanted - lots of lightweights drop 15lbs by dehydrating.
        Hatton - Likely HOFer
        ODLH - HOF - past prime but his effort showed he was still a top fighter at that weight.
        Castillo - possible HOF
        Hernandez - arguably HOFer
        Judah - possible HOF
        Gatti (okay, the guy ****** but he's in the HOF)

        To add to this, Mayweather is undefeated (although he should have a close decision loss to JLC, which he avenged). Tyson, on the other hand, was beaten by bums and lost to ****ing Douglas. I don't care what anyone says about his mentality or whatever, that's his fault and makes him a lesser athlete.

        The list of fighters shows that Mayweather should never be compared to the 4 round fighter that is Mike Tyson. I'm not a big fan of Mayweather but he's much greater. Nothing annoys me more than when some casual idiot tells me that Tyson is the greatest fighter of all time. He's arguably not top 100p4p (depending on your criteria - definitely not if you use resume) and no way top 10 at heavyweight. His main plus point is that he's the youngest champ at heavy.

        In all honesty, Tyson is more style than Substance. His resume isn't much better than Calzaghe's ffs.

          Tyson captured the nation's attention. In his prime he was the embodiment of raw aggression and power.

          That alone should suggest who was the more impressive.

            The OP said peak not career. Tyson's peak was spinx and a couple of years leading up to it where he destroyed the division. The Spinx performance itself was a more impressive performance than any ONE of floyd's fights. I said floyd has the better career. But that's not what the thread was asking. You obviously weren't watching boxing when spinx was around ... genuine ATG, Tyson destroyed him in one round. But whatever, ignore what the OP was asking i.e. 'PEAK' - that short couple of years where Tyson was awesome and just keep going on about whole career ... where I've already said floyd wins.

            Peak = Tyson
            career = floyd

            it's not complicated.

              Tyson was once called "The baddest man on the planet". Seriously though, Iron Mike Tyson vs Pretty Boy Floyd?

                Obviously Tyson. Floyd fights at the back pedal during most of his career.

                  I say Tyson considering how he destroyed his opponents. Less than three years as a pro and he was the unified heavyweight champion. We won't be seeing anything like that again in our lifetime.

                  Floyd dominating the top fighter in his division two years as a pro is also very impressive, but Tyson was a rampaging beast.

                    Tyson was winning fights during his ring walk. Can't recall another fighter doing that

                      Depends what you prefer;

                      An absolute beast demolishing tomato cans and cab drivers or a fighter who uses pure boxing skill to shut out opponents and break them down.
