The guy was hurt badly by Adamu, Barker and knocked down real heavily by a string of non punching limited Aussies. If and he will get hit by Golovkin, he is as good as dead.

Geale is a step in the right direction and nothing more. Despite Geale beating Adamu its stylistically an easier fight. His speed, output and style might translate to some success but I literally think he goes night night with the first clean shot he is hit with.
Always puzzles me this idea that there's some kind of vast qualitative gap between 160 and the surrounding divisions. It lacks the Marquee names of 154 (substantially cos Floyd and Manny have both fought and won at JMW) and SMW - (largely cos of Ward, Froch and the super six). It also suffers from a dearth of US fighters at the top level and a multitude of promotions - meaning the fighters (and fights) often don't get the same level of exposure.

In actuality however, how many cross-over fights have we seen to compare how say the top 10s in each division match up?

Structurally it's similar to most other divisions, with one or perhaps two clear frontrunners, then a following pack who'll sometimes win, sometimes lose against each other.

I don't understand quite where this perception that MW is actually a demonstrably weaker division comes from. It certainly wasn't seen that way in 2012 when Chavez jr was the up and coming superstar and Maravilla P4P #2 or 3, or in mid 2013 when threads were started on this and other forums discussing which were the weakest divisions.

How do we know 160 is a weak division then? And how much weaker is it?

Does a top 10 JMW beat a top 5 MW? Does every top 5 JMW beat every top 5 MW - how does it work?

This is a genuine question BTW - I'm not just trying to somehow add weight to GGGs resume, which would remain devoid of top-flight names anyway.

    • geale is 100% top 5 in the division. It's a great fight and if GGG takes care of business it will be a miles better win for GGG than anything on chinny chakiev's record Dan should hate on himself for hyping Chinny Chakhiev despite the fact he doesn't have any decent wins ... but he won't cause of course that would be far too consistent and logical

He maybe better than Macklin, that is a fight I'd very much like to see actually. I think they're somewhere around the same level and their styles would gel well.
I really don't think there's much difference in quality between Geale, Macklin, Sturm, and Murray. Barker either, though he's had to retire now. They're all about that same level.

Certainly Geale seems willing to fight now however, and I just hope that he hasn't missed out on the fight cos HBO already has other plans in the pipeline.

I think what bothers some posters is that there are claims being made by some that GGG is ducking Geale however, which is clearly absurd given the history of the situation.
Clearly absurd, thats definitely not the case here.

I agree, unless GGG turns down a fight with Geale, because unlike many guys in the division and contrary to what many on this forum believe, Geale has himself called out the guy who was supposedly never called out. Mora is another guy who has shown an interest in the fight. Both are better than the likes of Adamu or stevens, so now the question remains, who will GGG fight next? GGG doesn't seemed to have a date booked and I'm sure Geale would be up for an April/May showdown. So let's make this happen

Real fans see the quality in talent in Gennady.
This is a very general statement that for lack of a better word is complete and utter BULL****. I think the fight world is pretty together in the fact that GGG is a talented guy. He has a very good skill set. He's defensively responsible. And he appears to have special power. The divide comes in that folks like yourself want to annoint him the GOAT. Even though his resume is well, pathetic. Others like myself, who think he's talented, want to see him apply that skill set and power against legit competition before saying he's foreal. And one doesn't make you any less a "real fan" than the other.

I dont care. I was never a fan of Sturm or Sylvester. Sylvester was actually one of the worst Middleweight-Champions in boxing history.
