no way. he deserves to be on the list about as much as broner did. i think they both will earn their way there eventually, but they still have to do just that, earn it.

dont tell me golovkin is being ducked either, if they really wanted martinez they could have fought some fighters highly ranked within the wbc and earned a mandatory spot. then they would force martinez to either fight him or let the world know for a fact he doesnt want to. either way golovkin would be the MW champ as opposed to a mere titleholder.

take adama, ishida and simon off his resume (for example, theres plenty to choose from) and replace it with rubio, geale and jacobs. all ranked within the top 5 of the wbc, all good fights, better than the ones aforementioned actually and most if not all more than willing to fight golovkin imo. you got bryan vera and andy lee in the top 10, they would definitely fight golovkin.

basically golovkins team asked for a fight with martinez but they havent attempted to force the issue, thats what you have to do if you are an avoided fighter which golovkin supposedly is. to me it doesnt seem that way though, it seems they rather call themselves avoided and fight mostly easier fights than go out there and make the big fights happen. add a poor resume (by p4p standards) to that and i dont see how he is in the top 10 let alone the top 5.

he could be, theres no doubt in my mind golovkin would get the job done inside the ring if only his team did the same outside of it and stopped playing it safe while lying to the public.

I like Gennady a lot, probably more than the average fan but not only does he not deserve a shot in the top 5, to me he's not in the top ten yet.

He just has not faced enough good opposition.

The eye test is great, but it must be considered who he has had this success against. If he knocks out Cotto or Maravilla, I'm on board for a top ten spot.

Aside from Vitali, I agree but it's a little unfair at 6'6" and 250 lbs, lol.

ughh.. no you are are one confused about reality.

of course martinez should have fought golovkin already. the fact that he hasnt is part of the reason i dont rate him as highly p4p anymore.

but this happens in boxing, a lot. if you are golovkin and want your shot you cant sit around and mope about it, you have to force the other guys hand. its a shame he has to, he shouldnt have to, but he does. he isnt the first and he wont be the last.

martinez wont fight him at this point, thats no excuse not to make the best of the situation. look at williams, how he chased the big fights. he didnt get most of them but he did everything in his power. because of that you can say the man was plain ducked, he did all he could to get the best resume he could. i dont think golovkin did all he could to make the big fights or compile the best possible resume. so i dont excuse him fully for it and hence dont rate him p4p.

Fairy tale indeed. Quillin was made offers before the HBO GBP split, and Geale passed 2x in the past 3 months, first time cause it was Monaco and he wanted Hbo, then passed on hbo cause of ufc that day

That's not true at all. Proksa, Macklin, Stevens were all ring top 10

Golovkin is the WBA champion. You do realise he can't position himself to become mandatory for another belt?
