It's not like Showtime is running to Lara with arms wide open. Make Lara an honest offer and I bet Schaefer will fight to get him approved. It's a good match up.

So for all the GGG fans saying that Floyd was ducking him, now you know the truth. GGG can't fight anyone not with HBO. This makes it easy for him to say that NO ONE wants to fight him, because he won't fight Ward, he can't fight Quillen or Lara or Canelo. He should target Chavez Jr or the Martinez/Cotto winner.
Not at this stage in his career. Some fighters might want to go out in a blaze of glory fighting everyone and anyone. This isn't the case with Floyd. And him fighting a middleweight with punching power, in spite of his boxing skills and speed, is no bueno - not that I'm predicting who would win. I see TMT picking their next few matches very carefully.. however, IMO that fight would make a lot of money.Comment

Andy Lee in April,
James Kirkland in the Summer and
Sergio Martinez to close the year.
That's the way I see the GGG schedule shaping up. Would be nice if he fought Lara but it's starting to look like the Showtime/HBO thing will get in
the way.
I hope Lara calls out Quillin. They're both on Showtime, under Golden Boy and it could be a good easily made fight.Comment

How hard is it for some people to understand that HBO holds the broadcast rights to Golovkin's fights in North America. Lara is a GB fighter and GB is not doing business with HBO at all.
Also, don't kid yourselves. Lara would get flattened, and easily. To say otherwise would be downright silly and ignorant. He is stepping up to 160 against the biggest puncher in the sport, who also happens to be a very good boxer.

Loaffler is claiming that Quillin is supposedly "HBO approved." If this is the case, then at least as far as it concerns the middleweight division, the cold war is no issue. It's an opponent issue. If they're approving the likes of Andy Lee, they better approve Lara.Last edited by DoktorSleepless; 02-13-2014, 10:30 AM.Comment

Sturm would never come over here to fight GGG. Matter of fact, even though I've been critical of GGG. Sturm wouldn't fight GGG if GGG came to his house, fought in his backyard, and agreed to fight with one arm tied behind his back.
BTW, can't really blame Sturm for not wanting to fight over here aftr what they did to him in the DLH fight.Comment

I'd really hope they'd make Geale for the summer fight, he's already displayed interest and is by far the more significant fight for GGG, as much fun as Kirkland might be for a few rounds. If Kirkland could win 1 or 2 fights at MW, he becomes more relevent - but for me, it's just a kinda unecessary fight for Golovkin.
I'm pretty sure it's gonna be Lee for April so we get (hopefully)..
Lee
Geale
Maravilla
With the possibility of Kirkland filling in either of the second 2 slots if they don't come together.
Ideally I would throw a Sturm and Quillin but..Comment

While I understand the cold war situation, I don't like that Loaffler isn't showing any willingness to make an honest effort to make a Lara fight. Lara's team just can't call and ask HBO to put him against Golovkin. Loaffler needs to push for it otherwise he's just part of the problem.Comment
