Is PRIME Ricky Hatton underrated?

A 2 division world champion who only ever lost to ATGs and the best of his era in his prime and he isn't HOF worthy?
I wonder what you think of the likes of Gtati and McGuigan making it into the HOF.
What do you think of the case for Eubank and Naz being in the HOF....they're not there yet but wana know if you think they should?
I don't think just because they are in that we should let everyone else who's done more than them in. That makes the standards lower and lower "Oh, well if he's in then he's in!" if that's the logic we're going to use then the likes of Zab Judah will get in.
I think Hamed is boaderline. Eubank the same really but I wouldn't vote for either.
I'm surprised Hamed's not in considering he fits the bill for what the HOF look for. He pretty much ignited the interest in the lower weight classes.Comment

these *****s tripping, Hatton could box when he wanted to, just ask Paulie and he could out hustle the best, just ask Floyd about the first 5 rounds of their fight and he could hurt elite guys, just ask Kostya why he quit.Comment

Gatti and McGuigan are like the two most universally slated and laughed at inductions. Of course neither of those should be in, for what they did in the ring, atleast.

Hamed may well have been the greatest fw of his generation and he beat every other reigning champ in his division and won all the titles, what more could you have him do? Yes the Barrera loss is bad but Hamed was done by then, physically and mentally.
Eubank has the most championship fights in British history compares favourably to many other title fight candidates. He had power and skill and he beat some of the best guys around.
Is it because they are modern fighters, British and not viewed in black and white? LOLComment

It means you don't know what he would have done to guys like that even in his "prime" because he never faced them in the time frame you say he was in his prime, and all you can do is speculate like you just did. Just as is the case with Hatton. Was he really any better?, or was he still the same guy, and he just looked bad because he finally stepped in the ring with the highest tier of competition to whom you cannot do the same things you can to b and c fighters. I believe that is exactly what happened. He got to the pinnacle, and he was weighed measured and was found wanting.Comment

Gatti and McGuigan. I mean, come on. They aren't even the only ones either. So if we're going by the standards they've set for themselves, Hatton could be inducted. But as you say, the gates would flood with everyone who's ever been an undisputed champion of any weight class, i.e. also the zab judahs of the world.
It'll probably happen some day.
I'm surprised Hamed isn't in yet, and I think he deserves to be in there. after all, he did make 15 or so defenses and lit up the small weight divisions. What a great time.Comment

I said both are boaderline IMO I woudn't argue if either got in, especially Hamed who was the guy at FW and extremely exciting. Albeit I focus more on their actual ring accomplishments.
Eubank I wouldn't vote for myself, I was a fan of Eubank and he was a good fighter but he just had too many poor performances for me. He had good wins like Benn and Watson and some others but he just didn't go enough, for me. And like I said a lot of poor performances against less than stellar guys.
That said, and like I said, I wouldn't argue if either for inducted.Comment

I think that the IBHOF have lowered their standards significantly. And JC was inducted this year as well - pretty quick since Evander Holyfield is not even in. I know he didn't officially retire before a year or so ago, but still.

He is around here at least. At one point when he was still fighting he was getting a bit overrated but now its swung the other way.
The guy was a terror in the ring, a prime Hatton would have been a nightmare to fight. There were always guys I'd have favoured over him thoughComment
