How much do you think the Wood is worth compared to the Golovkin fight on HBO?
He probably wanted a tune-up....hell of a long time to wait for one though

Ahhh yes, Geale's ducking.. but of course.
Why compete with one of GBPs top draws when they dont have to? Its either HBO takes a hit or Geale does. GBP said it would either be 3/29 or 4/19.

Geale has declined i think the last 4 Golovkin fights in a row, the guy has an excuse for everything. He rejected the Feb 2nd date because he wanted it to be in HBO, but now he declines it again

So the only official date by anyone is the 4-26 date by UFC. Not sho, not HBO, but ufc. Yet HBO, the king of boxing, is gonna wait on Showtime to announce a fight that they're weighing their options on?

Makes sense. Geale is such a punk bitch

Geale's promoter, Gary Shaw in January: "They offered us a fight for Monte Carlo, but Geale wants to be on HBO."

Guys, "one week" was completely arbitrary. All he's saying almost any date besides april 26. A two week postponement isn't the end of the world. Of course, Golovkin's world doesn't revolve around Geale so Golovkin isn't obligated to do anything. But neither is Geale.

Also GBP ain't waiting for HBO to announce anything. They're saying both dates, the 19 & 26, are gonna be used for fights on Sho. So whether it's Hop or not, they're going against HBO and the UFC regardless.

Not arbitrary when your reserving MSG theater. Who knows what other events they have to work around to reserve that date months in advance. You can't just change it because one fighter all of a sudden needs a better date.

                    not quite

HBO offered terms that were unacceptable. offer unacceptable terms are no different than not offering terms at all.

they couldn't move the fight 1 week? Geale isn't allowed to be seen in his home country?

I saw that Geale vs Mundine did 44k. (don't know how accurate though) at $50 a buy that's 2.2 million.

even if Geale vs GGG did 10000 that'd still be 6 figures Geale would be losing out on. even if it were 5000 buys he'd still be losing at least 100k. no Aussie PPV means Geale stands to lose at least 100k or a few million if it sells as well as the Mundine fight.

so I'm not exactly seeing your point. HBO offered him terms that would make him lose money and exposure in his country all because they wouldn't move the fight one week?

and the Monaco offer was BS. that fight had no hope of generating the type of money that an HBO would.

you have a low ball offer and terms for a fight that are unacceptable. that seems like protection to me

I realize there's other complications, that's why I said Golovkin isn't obligated to do anything because of Geale. What Geale said was "If they had given us a week later or a week before, it would have been perfect." People are discussing the "a week" part as if it was specific demand when all he meant by the statement is that he could fight at any time besides that date.

If the date doesn't work for one of the parties, well too bad. I don't think it's Golovkins fault or Geales.
