My thought process is that if a Canelo fight is on the table for Serg. The logical thing to do would simply make his mandatory against Rubio to close out his HBO contract and then be free to jump over to Showtime to fight Canelo afterwards. I'm sure HBO will likely try and block any opponent not named GGG. But I'm assuming Cotto is Serg's voluntary defense. So I'm not sure how HBO could force him to basically have his title stripped by not allowing him to make his mandatory.Comment

I don't think I've called GGG a ducker. Because my stance is that a fighter isn't obligated to fight guys in higher divisions. The only reason I'm hard on him is because he has been promoted as most feared and would fight anyone from 54-68. And when Ward came calling, he changed his tune.
As for him taking on a lesser opponent. I think he's fought enough lesser opponents over the last decade. **** or get off the pot.Comment

I can appreciate he'd want his fans to be able to watch live (on Sunday lunch time) but in terms of revenue he doesn't directly earn any more due to the PPV.
Internationally fighters have to deal with their fights not being broadcast in their home countries as a matter of routine - Geales last 'biggest fight', Sturm, reportedly got 3000 viewers from which he probably got Zero revenue directly. When you're talking about the Aus boxing PPV it's a bit like the UK Boxnation - the viewers might pay to watch boxing but the fight itself doesn't earn the boxers themselves a penny. Why would that be a reason to drop a major title fight? You imagine that GGG refuses fights because his fights ain't aired live in K'Stan at 10am?
The 16 hour time difference makes the scheduling awkward anyway and viewing figures could easily be better if Main Event - the monopoly Australian PPV broadcaster were willing to broadcast with a few hours delay, after the UFC (which could potentially form a kinda build up)Last edited by Citizen Koba; 02-05-2014, 04:37 PM.Comment

How dare you, retract that comment at once, you have no right to make that comment about Geale. The fight must be aired in Geale's home country where he is a star you fool! Wow!Comment
