I tend to agree with a lot of what you've said, but "real Boricua" or not, people of any culture/heritage/nationality like a winner. I think that as long as Danny keeps doing that he's going to be embraced by a whole lot of Ricans; Island Puerto Ricans, Nuyoricans, Philaricans, hell, even Costa Ricans.¿Next star from Puerto Rico? NO WAY! First of all he's NOT from here(Puerto Rico)..Even thou Danny García is of Puerto Rican descent, he's NOT from Puerto Rico, Danny was born & raised & still lives in Philadelphia P.A.(u.s.) & that's from where he's from & that's who he represents.Lol! He doesn't even speak Spanish! He'll try to say something, but's it's really bad & very hard to understand, I've met caucasians from the u.s & africanamericans that actually know spanish..The last time Danny was in Puerto Rico was 4 years ago when he was 18-0 & they(Danny & his father) were both interviewed & Danny's father said(in spanish or more like "Spanglish") "that he(Danny's father) was born in Naguabo, P.R. & for that matter Danny has Puerto Rican blood in him, but he's was born in Philadelphia & makes him first from Philadelphia & we are all from Philadephia cause that's where we live & that's where Danny was raised".Now all of a sudden since thay are fighting in P.R Danny wants to make it seem like he's "El más Boricua" when it's all actually a bunch of "B U L L S H I T", just because he waves a P.R. flag once in a while(basically only ay some Puerto Rican parade in the states) & has one painted on the wall of his gym does NOT make him from here, he could be proud of his heritage, but that's as far as it's goes.& just to prove my point that he's a "Fake a Rican" in his last fight against Matthysse in the post fight interview he dedicated the victory to his people from Philly(like he should, since that's where he's from) to all the "Latino" & ESPECIALLY TO THE "MEXICANS"! & DID NOT MENTION AT ALL the Puerto Ricans he claims to now represent..Even if he did mention us, that still would have not made him from here, cause like I said before, he's NOT! If waiving a flag or fighting here would make him from here, Don King(who's was always waiving our flag when he had Trinidad) would be Rican & Azuma Nelson(who defended his title here twice) & Ali(who also fought here) would be Ricans. As of now, We still DON'T have a world champ & hopefully soon one of our REAL BORICUA fighters will win a title & PROPERLY represent us..Comment

Puerto Ricans are U.S citizens. Its technically part of U.S as they share defense, currency and head of state among other things. So Danny can easily claim both as his own. It will be just like Garcia repping Pennsylvania and New York at the same time cuz its the same country.Go live in Puerto Rico Danny Garcia and take up citizenship there. If you're born in America - you're an American. If you don't want to embrace that, then go move somewhere else. I might as well call myself English because my roots are from there. That's the problem with this country everyone wants to be from somewhere else - there's no unity.
Itd be different if De La Hoya went for U.S and Mexico the same time cuz they are both "seperate" countries.Last edited by Box-Office; 02-05-2014, 10:12 PM.Comment

I feel like this article is trying to convince me that Danny is Puerto Rican. Fact is, Danny is a Hispanic American. Americans don't watch boxing so his fanbase is small. Puerto Rico watches boxing, so he's pretending to be something he is not.Comment

If u can't understand him then you're an idiot
Real Boricuas my ass u ****ing moron. Pay homage to the homie cuz everyone coming out of Puerto Rico looks suspect as **** right now. Funny how u talking all this "real Boricua" *** but Cotto sells out NYC and FL and most of the people showing up are Puerto Ricans born in the USA. And it's no surprise I come in here talking crap cuz from when I first got on here, all your post have fen straight garbage.¿Next star from Puerto Rico? NO WAY! Dulorme?!? He's no more Puerto Rican than Danny. That dudes from St. Martin, has a French last name and his damn nickname is "El Francés" (the Frenchman) for crying out loud. That would be the battle of the wannabe Ricans.Comment
