I get that he's trying to maximize his fanbase by touching on his roots and all, it's just I don't feel he embraces the PR culture enough for the Ricans to care. Does he know a lick of spanish, or even tried learning it? I suppose he's as good a replacement as they come until Verdejo starts kicking some serious ass and usurps the true crown from him.

Gotta agree with you. His dad even kinda turned off some PR fans, saying he wished his son was mexican cause he'd have more support. Maybe if he tried this years ago, Danny's fanbase would have more Ricans. I dont question his roots. If he has national pride thats great. But getting them to follow you is another thing. Even Cotto was born in Rhode Island i believe. But he represented the island from the start. Of course living there helped also.
