GGG would steamroll him within 6. Pavlik wasn't hard to hit and could be put down.

I made this thread a while back and people were all joking like it's a joke then GGG has a close fight with Jacobs and people change lol. Funny.

Pavlik would have hurt Golovkin bad. Pavlik's chin was very sturdy and he only got rocked by really quick counters. He would have backed GGG up and landed his right hand. Talk about an ATG fight though..

Kelly Pavlik is big boy, and has REAL one punch power, GGG has heavy hands but Pavlik was 6 foot 2 iron chin and great stamina and conditioning in his prime.

GGG would wilt under Pavliks pressure.

Pavlik didn't have an iron chin. He got hurt badly against Taylor. More important than that he could be busted up (see Martinez fight). He might not have been dropped by Golovkin but he would have been a bloody mess (think Rosario vs. Golovkin). Everyone talks about Golovkin's competition, look at Pavlik's resume, excluding Taylor it is a bunch of nothings. But I don't get into that too much because sometimes it just isn't your fault. Everyone said Hopkins beat a bunch of nobodies too. He didn't get the deserved respect until the Tito fight.

Also, you can't compare how Jacobs fought against Golovkin. They have completely different styles, Pavlik would never fight the way Jacobs did and thus Golovkin wouldn't fight against Pavlik the way he did against Jacobs. I wouldn't compare the way Martinez fought against Pavlik to demonstrate how Golovkin would beat Pavlik either. Golovkin would never and could never fight that type of fight.

Pavlik vs. Golovkin would have been a fun fight. Toe to toe action. But Golovkin's better skill, precise punching and Pavlik's fragile skin, would give Golovkin a W. Now of course I'm making a big leap of faith that Golovkin beats Canelo.

christ almighty, people actually voted for pavlik? Based on what? Losing every round to ancient hopkins, getting beat up by martinez. But i forget , golovkins crap and every fighter past and present seems to be able to beat him in these fantasy match ups. Its amazing how he was an olympic silver medalist, 17 title defences as world champ and never been knocked down or knocked out in 387 fights. Hes not done too bad for a limited euro who can punch a bit.

Pavlik had an iron chin, you do realize when JT hurt him it was a shot to the ear that took Pavlik to the noodle dance right, not to the chin, and Pavlik survived and came back.

GGG chin has yet to be tested, nobody has every really traded full blast on his chin, Pavlik would pressure and wear out GGG.

too bad Pavlik is packed with muscle now and cant make 168 anymore, he weighs 225 pounds of muscle at 6 foot 2.

GGG would have been too fundamentally sound for Kelly Pavlik. Here are the reasons why? One, the Ghost was too easy to hit, second, he had very slow feet and last but not least he didn't have a very good chin against a huge puncher like Gennady Golovkin.

I was never impressed with Pavlik. He was a not an elite fighter IMO. I would go with Golovkin.

                    • We never saw Pavlik vs consistently skilled fighters. His most skilled opponents were Taylor, Hopkins and Martinez.

First of all, he destroyed Taylor after getting badly hurt himself in round 2, he caught a beating there from a JT who was not known to end fights in KO's. Then in the rematch, people forget but it was very close.

He followed this up with an upset loss to Hopkins, which I called, and then losing to Martinez which I thought Pavlik would win that fight.

So yeah, GGG wins, idk if it's by KO, but Pavlik seemed very vulnerable in the Taylor rematch, Hopkins fight and Martinez fight and I think that's enough evidence that GGG would have a good showing against Pav.
