The Golovkin Legend

We don't know yet if he's on Ward's level or not. We'll find out that after the GGG vs Ward fight. Until then it is ****** to call him a bum or a legend.
I'm sure they will have to fight when the time is right. So can we stop this fangirl and no-fangirl craziness?Comment

How much did it take to get Adama and Ishida in there with GGG? Quillin is an undercard fighter, you can't expect his opponents to make 300-400k because no one really knows who he is.Comment

I wouldn't even call him a bum, just a bum destroyer at this point, which is nice he KO's them but it is time to step up instead of claiming everyone is ducking and go on to fight random unranked JMW's
I forget lol I might have did it by accidentComment

Pretty much spot on. His KO ratio is so misleading too, as it has only come against one legit top 10 contender.LOOKING through boxing's middleweight greats, watching the careers of boxers like Marvin Hagler and Bernard Hopkins were great achievements for the 160lb division.
Kazakhstan's Golovkin is currently 29-0 (26KOs). Apparently, he has the highest KO ratio in the division's rich history, and some observers predict his greatness may supercede the middleweight greats of yesterday.
BUT a quick glance at Golovkin's padded resume shows a roster of sub-standard opponents. His notable victories probably come against Macklin and Ouma! And his power aside, he doesn't appear outstanding to me.
I therefore wonder how this type of brain rot spreads through the boxing community? The hype surrounding Golovkin reminds of the same bubble that was around Matthyse - and we saw what happened there.
The mildest of suggestion that Golovkin is as ring savvy or near accomplished to the division's true greats ought to be considered an indictment for fraud.
Having said that, I disagree with the notion that the only thing GGG has is his power. He isn't on the same level as Monzon, Robinson, Hagler, Hopkins and co. in terms of in ring savvy and skill but he cuts the ring off very well, which tells us he has good footwork. He can switch his attacks from body to head very well and he has a great right hand and left hook. His hand speed and foot speed aren't exactly elite but it's good enough for the opponents he has faced.Comment

Three, according to Ring rankings. Macklin is more of a top 5 contender than top 10.Pretty much spot on. His KO ratio is so misleading too, as it has only come against one legit top 10 contender.

Matthysse's "hype" came from destroying the IBF champ. what world champ did GGG destroy? Right.LOOKING through boxing's middleweight greats, watching the careers of boxers like Marvin Hagler and Bernard Hopkins were great achievements for the 160lb division.

And the Garcia fight was close enough and well worth a rematch, which surprisingly fans have not been offered.
Dont get me wrong, I like GGG, but he's running out of time to fight someone really worth a damn. End a world champ the way Matthysse did and we can start talking about a name worth remembering in the history of boxing.Comment

Proksa was #9 when he fought Golovkin, as was Stevens who remains at #9.

LOOOL and you are quoting these guys as worthy opponents in your argument that apparently Im wrong? Mate t really doesn't help you. Stevens is garbage, has been for years, he was something about a decade ago but hasn't done anything since. They've been trying to hype him in the US for years, any self respecting ranking system wouldn't have him anywhere near a top 10-15.
