Sure, there have been decades with a number of significant fights, but nothing like the 70s (or maybe that has more to do with mainstream media coverage)...And I get the impression that every other "era" is put up against that single one single benchmark golden era, and that just isn't fair, in my opinion. I bet most that say that for example "this today is the worst time in HW boxing" couldn't name one opponent other than Jeffries that Johnson fought.
lewis is a top 10 atg heavyweight

Without a doubt top 10 or top 15. He avenged both losses and won them by KO. He also fought during one of the toughest decades of the heavyweights.Comment

No I don't think he's top 10. Neither is Tyson and I love Tyson. People just forget how many great heavies there have been throughout history. Lewis is a top 10 British heavyweight but I don't think that's what ts means. Ali, Louis, Johnson, Frazier, Foreman, the underrated Holmes, Dempsey, Tunney, Charles, Patterson, Liston, Marciano.
In their primes they all knock Lewis out imoComment

Devolved is probably a more accurate descriptor. People like to throw around buzzwords like "evolution" when they have 0 conception of what it actually is.Comment

That's not bad list but I can't imagine Marciano being top 3, let alone top 5. Yes he was undefeated, yes he beat Louis, Moore, Walcott and Charles but how many of those guys were in their prime and how many of them were shot? Louis was shot, Walcott all but shot and Charles wasn't anywhere near his best anymore yet almost all these guys gave Marciano hell. What saved him was his relative youth, punch resistance and power. Imagine if these names were primed and ready, I don't think Marciano beats a single one of them.Comment

It could of been worse I guess, you could of been dumb enough to add in Foreman and Frazier high in the list... ooo wait you did!?!
Ask Foreman about his opinion on Lennox Lewis haha!
1) Joe Louis
2) Jack Johnson
3) Muhammad Ali
4) Lennox Lewis
5) Rocky Marciano
6) Ezzard Charles
7) Jack Dempsey
8) George Foreman
9) Larry Holmes
10) Ken NortonComment
