Lets see what really happens first but yeah Cotto will be letting himself down if this is true (though 1 lb on Sergio wont mean ****), I was wound up that Cotto's 147 title was on the line vs Pacquaio as was Miguel, so it would be a bit hypocritical. I know He fought Tony at 150 but Fuck him! Hopefully he mans up and fights allows Martinez to fight up to 160 should he choose
Cotto/Martinez at 159 CW?

stuff like this happens during the negotiation of fights.
you concede something, i'll give you something in return.
smaller ring? drop an extra lb. stuff like that.
it won't hurt martinez at all. he's not a big middleweight.Comment

that's not that heavy at all, brodawg. 30 days is plenty of time to shed that weight if there's weight to lose. martinez was 159 vs jr, 159.5 against murray, and before that he was 157.5 against macklin.
lots of middleweights are heavier than 173 on the night of the fight.
he'll be absolutely fine at 159. if they start to go a lot lower than that it will become an issue.Comment

Do they even announce the CWs when they go live? I swear they didnt even mention Mayweather giving Canelo a CW on Showtime.Comment

I'm not a huge fan of having catchweight's for the belt but it's more of a normality these days and isn't something new.
Makes sense really to have this fight a catchweight, the size disparity between the two of them is quite drastic.
As long as Sergio can make it, that is.Comment

King cotto is acting like a queen if this is true I hope no cause I like cotto but this bull***** he's doing to Martinez what PAC did to him that's no fare I don't care if Martinez has problem making. 160 or no!!! Floyd fought cotto at the full 154Comment

One pound is unlikely to make much of a difference particularly when Martinez has weighed in under 159 on a few occasions in the past. I'm not sure how much Cotto weighs in the ring but I imagine the weight difference on fight night will be as little as 3 or 4 pounds or as much as 8 or 9 pounds between them. Martinez is slightly the bigger man but the size difference is not drastic.Comment
