Don't really get this one - the belt will be at stake anyway but maybe in some odd way it'll suggest that Cotto wouldn't be lineal MW champ if he won below 160 (ie that Sergio could still leverage his MW lineal status for future fights).

It's just odd and there has to be a reason - that's the best I can come up with.

Insignificant in all likelihood. Martinez doesn't cut as much weight as a lot of fighters and typically weighs in slightly over 159. Don't really see the point in this.

Yep, Martinez has weighed in lower in his mw run anyway. Won't be a problem, unless the lay off and injuries have hurt him and if Cotto wants it even lower.

I may be wrong here but didn't Cotto say a while back that he didn't want to ask for catch weights? Like I said I could be wrong but I'm sure I heard that on here.

Still, it is a pointless thing to have in the contract as many of you guys have said already...Seems to me that there are a few things with this fight that are being debated over way too much, a pound of weight, name billings etc.

Seems to me like these two are just trying to get one up on each other in the negotiations, the word diva has been used a few times I've seen...

ZERO point. Sergio rarely if ever weighs in at the MW limit and a pound is no big deal unless you are struggling to make weight which Martinez is Not. Hopefully this is not true because u shouldnt be able to fight for a title at a weight contrated to less than that of the division limit
