I thought the DQ was nonsense, but as for why people ignore the bout, it's because of how boring it was. Kirk wasn't his usual aggressive self and that just made it worse.

Molina fought a crappy fight, holding, punch, hold, punch, the entire fight. But it's Kirkland's job if the ref isn't doing anything to fight out of it, like he did in that last round. He actually fought out of it, didn't let Molina just clinch him, and knocked him down.
