I agree, at LW, imo, Duran does not have a single win against a top 50 ATG. I'll have another look but at the top of my head I can't think of any. But that doesn't mean he wasn't a great LW, he beat everyone he was supposed, top contenders, former/present/future champions, what more is he supposed to?

On top of all that, he moved up 2 divisions and fought one of the greatest welters in history, went to war with him took some big shots and won the fight. He had a bad time against Hearns but he lasted 15 with Hagler...standing at 5'6'' he was fighting one of the greatest middleweights ever and one of the most dangerous fighters of his era.

He then beat one of the best mw titlists of the late 80s in Iran Barkley, just look at what Barkley did in his own career. Duran is a top 10 ATG. There can't be any arguments on that.

Durans win where he moved up to beat prime Leonard is greater than any win on pacs + floyds + Cottos resumes combined

Banal, overdone troll thread....but what the hell....the biggest fight he had was against Leonard. He won it.

Apart from two fights, that's just two fights out of nearly 80, every other one of his losses came at 154 and above and over 30.

From 118 to 147 and for the first decade and a half and about 75 fights, he won all but two, and both of those were against opponents he also beat, and that included the best fighter he ever fought.

That's because its the wins that matter. Duran fought anyone and went up in weight classes and fought bigger guys unlike some people we know.

Duran all time when I rank him at each weight class he participated in stacks up this way.

Duran 135 - B no top ten ATG to compare skill with at the weight.
Duran 147 - C one defeat if Leonard does not equate to dominance. Duran lost key battles at this his second weight class. Losing to Benitez and Leonard in the rematch Duran never successfully defended his title at 147.
Duran 154 - D won the WBA belt from Davy Moore koed in his next fight against tommy hearns, never defended the belt he won!
Duran 160 - D won the belt from Iran Barkley never defended the title he won in his fourth weight class.

So that's three weight classes he competed in that he never defended a title he won. I rank him top 30-50 depending on the mood I'm in. Lol
Brandish is back....and guess what's it for? A Duran bait thread! Who'd have thunk it...

I feel pity for you when I read your posts. Genuine pity.

I believe you have Whitaker ranked in the top ten right? Which top ten ATG do you have him beating to judge him? The way you rate your top guys, Duran is better in nearly every category.

For instance you say Leonard isn't in your top ten because he doesn't have enough title defenses. Duran had the most title defenses at 135 with 12. Let me guess, that particular way you rank fighters doesn't apply with Duran. Only when it suits you. Funny that.

Longer prime title reign. More title defenses. Beat HOFers in those title defenses/wins. More weight divisions with titles. Greater single win than any fighter of the entire modern era. Add all that up....whatever way you rank fighters, you lose out 9/10.

In fact, where do you have Sweet Pea ranked as an ATG and at 135? Don't dodge, just answer it.
