By the way his name is Ezzard Charles...
you keep running back to the ray leonard victory like that somehow legitimizes duran and it doesnt while a good victory he would of needed to defeat ray in the rematch decisively but he quit

so his career takes a knoock and all the fighters you listed never quit when the going got tough.

I don't dismiss them at all - I'm just saying that because he lost a rematch to Leonard, an ATG, it doesn't automatically cancel out his first win over him. That idea is twisted. Especially if you know what shenigans Duran was up to after his first win against Leonard.

You place too much focus on one loss as they do nowadays. in truth, it was never that important back then. He did the right thing and rematched him and won.

Why the hell would he need to beat Leonard twice to actually beat him?

i told you before that there are duran cuckoos he think that beating ray the first time was all duran needed to do become a top ten atg, thats the crazy ****** stuff im talking about.

beatng ray the first time was cool for duran but he lost both times in the rematches, he lost to hearns at 154, hagler at 160, benitez and leonard at 147 that is not dominance nor does it show greatness.

duran is in my top 30-40 because of his total career which was good just not top ten atg type career,

because the first fight was close and a rematch is in order to see if this guy duran is for real or did he get lucky?

well he got lucky because he never beat ray again or any other atg again after that victory, so no you dont get ranked top ten atg losing against all fo the other greats of your era.

Beating Ray the first time on top of an ATG LW career is enough for me to say he's an ATG. You also seem to forget that Duran started his career lower than lightweight and fought the best after the best in each division. He came up short when he was way past his prime yes, but he gave it a good go. He also beat Iran Barkley, which was a pretty damn good win at MW.

I still can't see how you can deny this man his place in the top 20, borderline top 10.
