If he wants the money, he'll drop the belt and fight Golovkin.
he has limited time and fighting Rubio only prolongs his contract with HBO.
If he wants those Showtime fights so bad, finish his contract now

People want to see this fight because Martinez is the legitimate middleweight champion and the only middleweight in the world ranked higher than Golovkin. You can't really judge Martinez off a performance where he had a damaged knee and injured shoulder going into the fight. That's why if he shows up healthy against Cotto, we can get an idea where he's at right now.

I still think Martinez wants the big money fights at this stage which I don't blame him. Like Dibella said if Martinez gets past Cotto than his next fight he'd want Canelo. Than possibly sometime in 2015 he'd fight Golovkin.

A fight with GGG is going to be a big money fight... I don't know if you've noticed but GGG is putting up very good ratings for HBO.
