Martinez beats former super lightweight in Cotto and then GGG fights this geriatric Martinez who already had his chin shattered by Chavez and that will actually be his best fight. That is a horrible resume for a 32 year old

His age doesn't matter, Martinez is 39 next month. Golovkin has years and years of boxing ahead of him, his record will build, especially if he fights 4 times a year.

This fight won't happen if Martinez beats Cotto, he'll get Mayweather or at least Canelo. But Martinez is not getting past Cotto and that is the reason this fight will get made, it's a name win for Golovkin and Sergio should he win (no way in hell) would be able to redeem himself.

That's his leverage to get them they will never fight him if he doesn't offer something for the resume. Ggg doesnt need Serg. He already said that he wants Golovkin by the end of the year. If he wrecks Cotto and then there are problems making this fight happen, people will see that it was all a case of a promoter and a network thinking they had a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow when we all know that stuff doesn't really exist.
