Whatever. He's a quitter. In the context of how he responds to adversity and similar situations to other boxers, he's a quitter. THAT is how he's being judged... Not in the context of how fans would react in the ring, but in the context of how other boxers would react. I call it how I see it, from the comfort of my own living room. So what?

Boxers are held to higher standards than their spectators.. Simple as that. Compared to his peers, Ortiz is the biggest kind of quitter. I have been in the squared circle though obviously not at that level. Can tell you I never went down from a head shot. On close to my first day in the gym though a guy who was one of the best in the gym cranked a body shot on me that made me take a knee.

Unfortunately a fighter with Ortiz rep doesn't get the benefit of the doubt. The visual evidence doesn't work in his favor. The ref was telling him there was 1 second left in the round and even gave him a long count expecting him to get up after 7. 30 seconds after the fight is called he is ok and practically running to congratulate Collazo. If he had just made an attempt to get up he would have had those 30 seconds to recover in the corner.
I think Ortiz just wasn't prepared mentally to go to war with this guy and once he got hit he wanted out.

I would no longer call ortiz a "prize fighter" let alone a B level fighter the man is FINISHED at the top level.

Btw, you idiots that get butthurt realize it comes with the sport, did you see manny P begging people to stop criticizing him? do you see floyd begging to stop criticizing him? no, because those are REAL prize fighters who know it's part of the sport. when you're riding high everyone and their momma loves you, when you lose, you find out who's really with you. Ortiz doesn't fight for free. people act like some of these dudes fight for peanuts and put on a show because they just love the fans so much. NO, ortiz gets paid MILLIONS of dollars to do his job in the ring, which is to fight. when he doesn't do that job and backs out, people have every right and are justified to call him out on that.
