I agree with this, especially when it comes frome someone with not even a drop of courage that a fighter has, to sit there and call a guy a quitter or coward etc. I dont care if you are a fan and feel you have the right, or because dan raf says it. It makes you look fake, very lame, and a total dip****.

I've had myself some am fights, I've broken my nose, fractured some bones in my hand and ripped ligaments in my ankle during a long distance run yet I have never quit, unlike Dirrel, Ortiz and Alexander. Quitting is quitting, get the *** over it.

Why is considered disrespectful to say that a boxer "quit"? I don't know what else to call it. Ortiz gave up on himself before the tough really got going. His mental toughness and tolerance level for pain seems to have hit rock bottom. He was willing to withstand much more against Maidana and Berto. Maybe we're being too hard on him, maybe getting shook from a flush shot on his once-broken jaw took the fight completely out of him. However, once you take into consideration the stuff he was spouting about Maidana and Josesito beforehand, his performance last night looks worse and it's hard to feel sympathy for him.

Ortiz had an opportunity to fight on live television and reclaim the spot he lost before he got injured, and he didn't even try to get back up. He shouldn't be getting these opportunities if he's just going to give up on himself.

By the OP's logic, we shouldnt criticize the President because we haven't been politicians ourselves.

No one is immune is criticism. Ortiz is called a quitter by people here because we can compare his behavior inside the ring with other boxers.

Relatively speaking, he doesn't seem to have a lot of heart or intelligence, take your pick.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. With that said, I think Ortiz quit, plain and simple. Do I blame him? No he has the righ to quit. At the end of the day he has to look out for number one. I wish him the best.

Get off your high horse, Rockin'. People quit in sports, jobs, life, etc. Let's not pretend boxers don't quit in the ring. It's not the first and won't be the last time.

You have about as much as a clue as to what was going on in Ortiz's head as anyone else on this board, no clue. Sure you can take an educated guess, but it doesn't make it right. You're basing your opinion on past experience, they are basing their opinion on Ortiz's track record.

I dont know what Ortiz was going through. Ive been hit by some pretty big shots in sparring so maybe he was dazed. But looking at the replays and when it happened he didnt look like he was incapacitated to the point of not being able to continue. Like i said though i dont know what he was feeling maybe his jaw broke again.

Still doesnt look good for him
