I agree calling fighters quiters and cowards is a step too far but they are prize fighters so are there to open to criticism like and any other sportsman
Before you call any boxer a quitter........

I'm not even that much of a Victor Ortiz fan but it clearly shows most of you lot have never stepped into the ring before calling fighters quiters even though you've never even properly sparred before . You never know ortiz's head could have been spinning and he might not have known where he was when he was in the ring cos it was a great shot that collazo hit him with or he might have decided to quit we don know so just stfu once in a while and show boxers respect cos they re the ones putting their lives on the line for your entertainment. Boxing has some of the most ******est fans ever.Comment

You can clearly see that he was conscious enough in attempting to dodge Collazo's last two punches, Ortiz was not out of it. Victor sat there and watched himself get counted out, all without making an attempt to get up. It's time people stopped defending him....Comment

I am fully convince Ortiz sold it to some of you. Jump to 2:38, this is all I could find on Youtube,

you two don't know ****, just bull**** opinions thrown from the comfort of your recliner. You haven't even a single clue as to what Ortiz may have been dealing with. ****in' ignorant fools, all with keyboards, the internet and way too many uneducated (or ignorant) opinions................ you are clueless, worst thing that you've written so far.
If you thought that the job that you were doing was getting out of hand and you believed that you were seriously in danger of death or a serious brain injury would you clock back in after lunch? Or would you just go home until everything is straightened out so that you could work there another day?......... Rockin'
You're just plain wrong. This is boxing and there is dangers, hence why the ones that get far in this sport are rewarded well. Ortiz is a quitter and there is no problem being critical of a boxer.Comment

He instinctively turned away from Collazo after a monster shot to the jaw, he knew he had to get out of there. His jaw isn't right, I heard a while back it didn't heal properly and twitter is awash with rumours right now that he had trouble finding a doctor to clear him to fight. He possibly could have got up, but at what cost? Ricky Burns has permanent numbness in his mouth from fighting on and his speech is altered. Ortiz made the right call.Comment

A boxer who's been floored and actually attempts to get up, stumbling and what not, is actually trying. Even in that state they still inderstand their purpose and are willing to near die for it.
A boxer wincing in pain from a body shot, rolling around on the mat and crying, has failed but has also tried.
A boxer who has a swollen face with cuts the size if their eyes and with blood pouring out of their head is someone who is trying to achieve their goal, win, lose or draw, through whatever circumstance.
A boxer who has the ability to rest on his/her knees but fails to even attempt to rise to the occasion, is unfortunately a quitter... If at least for that fight.Comment

Why would you get a job that there is even a chance of being in danger of death or serious brain injury?
