Most def not, Rigo fights nothing like GGG. He's a dark skinned cuban. His personality isn't endearing in the slightest. Rigo and GGG are polar opposites in almost every regard. All the marketing in the world wouldn't save Rigo.

You can't talk out of both sides of your mouth which they have got caught doing the last couple months. Fighting in Monte Carlo as nothing to do with time zones for live tv in EE. They get paid the same amount of $ that they do on HBO and they can fight even bigger bums. HBO isn't airing it because they knew the numbers for the fight would be poor because of time and opponent and now that the #'s are being posted, they didn't want people to know that their superstar had terrible numbers in order to pump the next b level opponent for April. I like GGG but Abel and Loeffler are full of bs.
Actually GGG's popularity is rising month on month. Probably faster than anybody else in the sport

Probably that HBO isn't airing the fight. That's utter BS though. His popularity is high. He's exciting and most casuals don't know that most of what he fights are sub-par opponents. If you're somewhere and you put on boxing, if it's exciting people will watch if not they won't....most don't care who's fighting. Saying GGG one of the sports fastest rising stars is losing popularity is absurd.

            If that's his reason, it's a pretty ****** one.

Rigo is a counter-punching tactician, who somehow manages to not be very exciting. GGG is a boxer-puncher with an agressive style and he likes to finish his opponents. Promotional resources only work when there is something marketable to promote.

Ward has nothing left to do at 168. He fights infrequently too.

Golovkin is still working on cleaning out his division and unifying. Awesome that he fights four times a year too.

Even though I think Ward beats GGG, I have more respect for Gennady. Actually, I think GGG beats anyone not named Ward 168 and below.

Think of it like this, if Top Rank billed Rigo as the master tactician he is similar in the vain as GGG is this almighty knockout artist (rightly so), it would be somewhat more understandable and maybe draw more fans to his bouts.

I'm no Rigo apologist but with this his skill and ability, you would think Top Rank will atleast make a worthwhile investment in him before going bust on him. As has been noted by many of our Cuban posters on BS, there is a demand for him to fight in Miami. Like GGG is fighting in Monte Carlo to satisfy his European fans fighting on a prime-time slow (all down to K2 mind you), Top Rank can try and throw Rigo towards areas where he is at the very least capable of drawing fans.

Point of my original post is this is how you build international fighters. Have them fight frequently and across the globe is a handy bonus.
