He became 160 exclusive like halfway or a little further through 2013.
They have HBO backing them heavily by then and knew they could get a ton of money from them now.

Loeffler talked about it in a press conference with GGG and Mike Perez. Said they had to make concessions to other fighters to get a fight made (small purses and opponents having almost the same size).
I always thought the "154-168" was a front anyway.

    There's no way he's healthily making 154 and I don't think he's keen on 168.

With the difference that these guys here fought a handful of noticeable opponents... Combined.

He always said "down the line", "a year from now", "ask them if they want it" etc.

I think Andre Ward beats Golovkin but let's not pretend Ward was pushing for this fight, he wasn't and still isn't.
How is he not pushing for it when he says he's ready to do the damn thang?

Sounds like a double standard to me.
There's no symmetry here: Golovkin still has noticeable opponents at 160.

Ward has Groves and hypothetically Chavez Jr. (who never fought in the division and he's busy right now). Froch, Shtiglitz or Kessler are almost retired by now.

I repeat: who is Ward fighting next?

Where did he say that? He didn't, it's always the same vague choice of words when Ward's asked about Golovkin. It's never "I want that fight", it's always "down the line" or "go ask them" or in this case "I got no problem fighting xyz".

Basically he just wants to say he's not ducking, but he has never actively pursued the fight himself.

GGG is no different from any other fighter. He wants the Floyd lotto ticket. And would do whatever he had to do to make it happen. The 54-68 thing was just a ploy to not make him look like he was picking on smaller guys. And it was without risk because Ward was hurt and Froch's bum ass probably wouldn't even fight GGG. GGG's folks ain't ******. Which is why when Ward was off the shelf, that convienently made it known that GGG wanted to "concentrate and clean up things at 60."

If it was just a ploy, why did his promoter make offers to 168lb fighters?

                • GGG's team have been talking big **** in the past saying he'll dominate from 160-175, and all they've mostly fought is 154's. Although, now they've changed their tune. Ward would wrestle this guy to death and beat him down. Froch would mug him. In fact, there's a few contenders that'll beat him down pretty easy imo.

All these bigger guys can take him back, and that's when it'll be all over for GGG.

I think a lotta Matthysse's popularity came from people not only hoping he could beat Floyd. But I think even more of a factor was that he was the guy that was gonna shut Broner up. I believe a lotta GGG's popularity stems from them hoping he's the one to beat Floyd.

That said, Ward-GGG is a fight that under normal circumstances I'd have lil to no interest in. Ward is the #2 fighter in the world while GGG's best win is Macklin. So normally, I'd wanna see a lot more from GGG before taking him seriously against a guy like Ward. But seeing him get his ass kicked and re-living the gloom and doom of Garcia-Matthysse would be funny as hell.

I couldn't have said it better myself. GGG best win is Macklin and now he is a monster? We all know Ward would DESTROY GGG and that's why his fans don't wanna see the fight. But they have no problem with Gennady facing Floyd.

Everybody wants Floyd to lose so bad they want him to fight much bigger guys. But when it is asked of those same bigger guys to face guys that are a little bigger than them then it is a problem? lol

Like I said... These dudes are clowns on here and all I was reading and seeing on YouTube was everybody was AFRAID of GGG. Now Ward is calling his bluff and his fans are mad making up excuses.

If that is the case why aren't they trying to make offers to Ward to see if he is scared or not?
