I would respectfully disagree. H2h an argument could be made, but at the same time Byrd did much better against Vits than Sanders did. Accomplishments are not even close. Sanders beat 1 top 10 fighter his entire career. I don't remember the number for Byrd off hand but I know it was many more. Byrd also fought much better comp during his career.

Cervantes was an ATG fighter though. Never count them out even if you're an ATG yourself.

First off yea its an impressive record but none of his opponents were anything special. I also don't give him a lot of respect because he fights a much easier fight with the huge size advantage he has. Same with Tyson Fury, yea you KO'd Cunningham but you're way bigger and stronger and some how managed to get floored by the cruiserweight. Much more respect to the smaller guys like Haye and Chisora who have to fight a much harder fight to beat the Klitschkos who rely completely on height and keeping their opponents at bay with the jab.

According to this guy it's the KO that matters.

Whether it's against Lennox Lewis or Julius Francis is irrelevant.

some valid points, but lets not forget that the smaller guys are much more mobile, faster and could have much less problems with the stamina... think of mike tyson. think of haye against valuev. Haye didn't do anything special (apart from the last round). Valuev just couldn't put his glove on him..

It's quite remarkable that we today have guys >6'6 that could go all 12rd without gassing out.

Very true. However, the only guy Vitali fought that even remotely resembled guys like that was Chris Byrd. Regardless of injury or not, Vitali didn't look impressive in that fight.

The Sam Peter's of the world simply cannot be compared to the Mike Tyson's of the world.
