The guy who is selling the fight always gets his name first!
The champ should get to walk second and announced second. Being that Cotto is a way more bigger star than Martinez, he should get to walk or annoiunced second, thats how this works.

Martinez didnt had a problem with Chavez jr, or Paul Williams to be announced second, so he needs to stfu and sign the damn thing(Its already sign and delivered just watch)

Chavez had the WBC belt and they Made Sergio emeritus champ, plus Martinez was/is the lineal and ring mag champion.

Williams wasnt a champ, actually Martinez was the champ in the second fight and Williams still got announced second!

Whats all this **** that Cotto ducked Williams? The only time frame that they where free to fight each other was after Quintana school Paul Williams, and paul seeked a rematch with Quintana at the time. Then after the Margo beat down and Paul was fighting at 154/160.

So no, there wasnt a time they could had fought, that made sense for both fighters! Saying Cotto ducked Williams is ridiculous!

He fought Gomez while Margarito got Cintron again on the undercard and KO'd him. It's not like Margarito was made to wait without activity.

So he was supposed to go Mosley in November, Williams in April, and Margarito in July? Be realistic.

Williams would have got fights at WW if he had not jumped ship to JMW so quickly after getting revenge on Quintana.

Well he was going to do Mosley and then Margarito if Margarito beat Williams. So why not go Mosley then Williams? Why is that unrealistic?

There's years of precedent, hell recent precedence involving Cotto himself.

Cotto played ball when he went up against them, even though he was the champ, he who brings in the $$ makes the rules. It is what it is. Cotto will still make 3M+ against whomever in June 7th. Martinez will make 500K, selling $10 tickets in Argentina begging to be on HBO2.

Or he can go and get murdered by GGG for even less and fight at the Theater of MSG instead of the real-deal.

I do like that these two genuinely seem to hate eachother - will make it fun while it lasts.

For those of you who do not remember, Williams fought and lost to Carlos Quintana in February of 2008. He fought Quintana partly because he could not secure a bout with Cotto (or any other top welterweight).

June 2008 - Paul Williams beats Quintana in the rematch via 2nd round KO. Knowing he wouldn't get a Floyd fight, Paul called out Cotto.

Nov 2008 - Unable to get a meaningful fight at welterweight Williams vacated his WBO title and moved up to fight Verno Phillips for the WBO 154lb title.

That same month it was announced that Cotto would be fighting Michael Jennings for the very same WBO title Paul had vacated.

It's a diva move seeing as he's not the fvorite to win the fight. Martinez isnt as big a name but he is one of the premier fighters in the sport so it's not like hes bringing Trout levels of anonimity. To be honest Cotto needs this more than Sergio. Sergio has a higher chance at beating Rubio than Cotto does vs any belt holder. Another loss and he could kis that Canelo fight goodbye, whereas canelo would fight Sergio. You shouldnt get to come in second vs the lineal champ who does have a good name. Martinez can bring as big a crowd as Cotto can in his "home town" so its irrelevant.

Cotto can fight some nobody but that wont get him what he wants. He's not favored vs Lara (if Lara beats molina which he should).. Definitely wouldnt be favored vs the Canelo-Angulo winner or loser. Kirkland is a toss up. Floyd he loses handily again... Quillin beats him, Sturm probably too, and lets not even mention GGG. Martinez is about as far gine as Cotto, maybe more but hes a slightly better fighter and he's at lEAST a toss up with anyone barring GGG. Martinez is at the tail end of his career and as a proud and respected champion he's not going to concede much at this stage. Cotto is popular but he's no pac or Floyd.

Sergio is already fighting in Cotto's venue, probably HAS to win by KO, will likely concede to the name but i'm not sure how Serg feels about coming out second again.

Anyway, it could be a rehydration/rematch clause or gloves or ring size or something holding up the fight for all we know.

Sergio doesnt strike as the kind of guy to stall negotiations over money unless its ridiculous so i doubt it's that.

I think it fair for Cotto's name to be first in his venue/promotion but walking out second as well? Ehhh if youre not the favorite or MILES ahead in popularity that's kind of questionable.

On a side note I was watching a spanish show last night and a puerto rican dude was like "Cottos got this" super confident and the mexican and other dudes on the show kind of secret cringed and didnt say anything and had that kind of face like "Bless his heart" lol. Was like a mexican talk show

Anyway really like these two fighters and hope it gets made. They both deserve the limelight.

He was going to fight Margarito in the fall of 2007 if he won vs Williams and Cotto beat Judah. He chose Mosley over Williams, a higher ranked WW and better fight. Williams then signed for Quintana, lost, and was out of the division not long after.

Although Top Rank won't be involved in promoting Margarito-Williams, Arum said part of the settlement included Margarito signing a one-year extension to his promotional agreement with Top Rank, which will take him through at least 2008 with the company.

Also, if Margarito defeats Williams and Cotto defeats Zab Judah -- who replaced Margarito in the June 9 fight -- Margarito and Cotto will meet in the fall on HBO PPV.

"And if Margarito beats Williams and Judah beats Cotto, we will use our best efforts to make Margarito-Judah in the fall instead," said Arum, who has options on Judah in the event he defeats Cotto.

He's talking about having first billing in the fight title. Cotto was champ against both, but Mayweather and Pacquiao both had their names listed first in the fight's billling.
