Khan's Market Value Overestimated?

What the U.S. television market has done to Amir Khan's career in the U.K. Is the very exact same thing it has done to Carl Froch's and Sergio Martinez' careers in the U.K and Argentina. It has made then more popular among the casual fans in their own countries.
The American boxing television networks has given them more mainstream exposure among their own compatriots because before then, they were all virtually unknowns among casual fans before crossing the pond and fighting in the mecca of boxing; America. Thereby giving them instant celebrity status.
For example, Manny Pacquiao is not only popular among the casual fans in the Philippines but perhaps even more so among the casual fans in the U.S.Comment

I was at the Garcia khan fight and I saw like 6 fans nearby with Pakistan shirts on and the rest of the crowd was mainly of Mexican background. You probably had your random English tourists there too who happened to be in Vegas but you could never tell .Comment

I think you're right. I have been to a few of Khan's fights here in the UK and the 'superstar' talk is way wide of the mark. However, I agree with what other posters have said. People here know Khan, and they know Mayweather, so that will draw plenty of casuals in.Comment

Khan-Judah topped at 1.45m on HBO, vs Paulie at 1.4m, vs Maidana at 1.55m (if I remember correctly).
These are pretty good numbers for a non American. His figures used to be excellent in the UK when he was on Sky. He's also done decent PPV numbers. But his stock has dropped from a couple of years ago.Comment
