No announcement yet.
If Lara can not get the fights he wants at 154, why not move to 160?

Floyd Mayweather is a Champion at 154lb, which is the Junior Middleweight Division.
Danny Garcia is a Champion at 140lb, which is the Junior Welterweight division.
Erislandy Lara is a Champion at 154lb, which is the Junior Middleweight division.
Ideally in boxing Champions seek to unify their divisions and become the undisputed champion. Reasonably, many fans are suggesting a bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr, a 154lb champion, and Erislandy Lara, another 154lb champion.

Lara isn't in his first weight class btw... His amateur career was fought at 141lb and 147lb...
Floyd had filled out to 147 by age 30, Lara has filled out to 154 by age 30. Stop pretending all these fighters haven't grown with age.
GGG wasn't spat out of the womb weighing 160lb. Most of Floyds moving up in weight happened before he was 26. He has bounced between 147 and 154 for all of his 30s. Stop pretending that Lara and GGG are jokes for turning pro later in their career when they had already filled out physically.
If Floyd turned pro in his late 20's, he would have started at 147.
You think Floyd filled out and kept moving up? His body was like a little boy and he was the smallest guy in every division after 130. He moved up to chase the big money fights which were all at the higher weights. He wasnt physically ready to move up so dont try to compare him to those guys

Let me guess Angulo and Trout are too big for JMW also. They rehydrate to 170+

This is pretty weak Floyd apologist rhetoric to me, its inexcusable for him to fight guys like Khan if that is the route he does and like I said would be nothing more than a money making sideshow for him rather than legitimate sports competition.

Floyd Mayweather reach 72"
Erislandy Lara reach 75"
Reach is historically the biggest predictor in how far up a fighter can successfully move in weight.
Floyd is closer in size to Lara than he is to Garcia.

He stayed there a couple of fights and went to 140. At 140 he came into the ring at 143-144 pounds. He stayed a couple of fights and went to WW. At WW he came into the ring at 146-148 pounds. He stayed a couple of fights and went to 154 for Oscar.

There are weight divisions, but then there is reality. A lot of these guys don't naturally belong in those weight divisions today.
The first reality is that most fans are NOT suggesting a bout between Lara and Mayweather. If we are lucky, there maybe is ONE single article suggesting the bout on Boxing Scene alone. A site that publishes tons of stories daily.
