The first fight was 3 years prior a lot changes in that time span.

I'm not saying that Margarito was drained because he wasn't.

What I'm saying is it's difficult to say that Mayweather should take notes from Cotto in not taking a catchweight when he's done it himself.

Cotto's drawing power is not the same. He's lost some of that leverage. Martinez wouldn't have dropped to 154 lbs. Cotto already tried and failed to get a catchweight, which would favor him more than Martinez. Cotto is trying to get any advantage he can possibly get against Martinez. Martinez told him to go to hell with some of the demands.

Cotto wanted to come into the ring second, Martinez told him to go to hell too. I think you're overestimating Cotto's leverage. Canelo Alvarez is the third biggest draw behind Pacquaio (second) and Mayweather (first). And Canelo being third isn't even arguable anymore.

Cotto hasn't had injuries in his 2 previous fights and he's younger than Sergio. Martinez will be favored, but Cotto has a real shot here.

I don't have a problem if you think Sergio will win but anyone expecting Martinez from the Williams/Pavlik years are flat out idiots.

Seriously, he looked like **** and got a gift decision in his last fight. He also totally gassed up against a guy who was throwing punches between hitting his bong. Expecting a young, fresh and sharp Sergio Martinez is truly laughable, it is what Cotto should be training for but that guy is long gone. The fact is we are looking at 2 aging fighters... I'll go with the one who has been more active and has a style that isn't reliant solely based off reflex which Sergio's style completely is.
Sergio Martinez is going to beat the living crap out of Miguel Cotto. Martinez KO's Middle Weights. This will be Cotto's retirement fight.

So what's your view on the Cotto-Margarito catchweight upon request of Cotto?

Ha ha ha! Martinez is an overall better boxer/fighter than Cotto. He's bigger, faster and stronger than Cotto. This beat down will be equivalent to how Bhop beat Trinidad down but only worst. Cotto won't control the pace and he can't hurt Martinez. Props for taking the fight but he's done. Cotto looks small at 154.

Why do people see Sergio as being taller as being bigger? Cotto comes in at about 160 and Sergio comes in at about 165 usually. They are about the same weight they just carry it differently.

Cotto's drawing power is not the same as Mayweather/Pac but it was significant. Remember Martinez was fighting the likes of Dzinzurik, Macklin, Barker, Murray. You think he wasn't desperate for a PPV fight? That's why he chased JCC Jr for so long and Cotto is a bigger draw than Chavez.

The rest is just stuff you're making up with no evidence behind it. The fact that Martinez said he would have dropped to 154 for Cotto is not evidence to you though?
