His adviser clearly states he weighs in at 1 or 2 pounds under the limit.
So 158 would be normal for him.
There's a difference between having to make 160 lbs and having to make a targeted 158 lbs. Even though on the scale, he may be at 159 or 158, if having to make 158 specifically, he'd likely end up doing 157 or 156 to ensure he makes the weight. I don't believe Martinez would agree to it unless he had to.

      Yeah, let's see.

Cotto made $1 million against Austin Trout though.

And yes, Cotto doesn't need Martinez. Martinez needs Cotto more than Cotto needs him.

WBC Diamond middleweight champion Sergio Martinez has placed a challenge on the table for WBA 154-pound champion Miguel Cotto. During a recent interview, Cotto said Martinez didn't bring enough money to table, and that's one of the main reasons for the Puerto Rican boxer's decision to move forward with a December 3rd rematch with Antonio Margarito. Martinez, who defends his title against Darren Barker on Saturday night, is willing to stake his purse against Cotto.

So I suggest one thing - if the problem is money, I'll challenge him at 154-pounds - and if I win I will give him my money. If he beats me, I will give him my purse. We can fight where he wants and when he wants.

Never said you were the only one. I said you were the only one I noticed. Not really the point I was making. More that the nickname doesn't make sense. Cotto fantards are not the brightest so I'm not surprised they ran with it.

Thanks! I tried looking for it myself, but couldn't find it. Appreciate that.

And yes, he did make all sorts of demands like that. At one point Martinez was even fighting about the title of the fight. They wanted Miguel Cotto vs. Sergio Martinez. And Martinez was like **** that.
Well I can tell you that he said it numerous times. He also said he'd move down for Canelo.

We don't know what they've agreed to regarding the naming of the fight etc etc.

Yeah, you were right. I hadn't seen him saying that in the past outside for Pacquaio and Floyd. Bluebettle just posted it to me.

And he said that for Canelo too?

But when I think about it, I shouldn't be surprised. Not too long ago, he was really, really desperate for the bigger paydays. Even said 150 lbs for Pacquaio or Floyd, which is insanity to me (because of the health risks, long term and short term).

The guys resume is 2nd to None... ide say hes the King of that.

I guess you prefer guys who cherry picc or get protected their whole careers? Cotto takes on all comers, you have to atleast commend the guy for that.

Mad respect to Cotto... we live in an Era where the best think they dont have to fight the best. Cotto is throwbacc for sure.

He has a good resume but he loses most of his big fights. It doesn't make you the King of anything. I respect him but I'm not gonna suck his scrotum for no good reason.

He's had his fair share of cherry picks himself and lets not act like he's taking this fight out of the goodness of his heart. He has a clear strategy in mind.

No doubt... he wants that 4th belt...

But i dont agree with "He loses most big fights".. He lost to Floyd and Manny which is respectable. He lost to a Cheat in Margarito and he lost to Trout which i believe was more of a style match up, not to mention Trouts size is awkward.

but hes had some great wins against good names tho.
