He'll obviously get credit because anyone who beats the P4P #1 is going to get credit especially if they're undefeated and on form.

But someone highlighting that he's passed prime isn't not giving credit they're stating a fact. Still get's a lot of credit on what would be a spectacular win.
regardless of whether Mayweather is absolutely prime or not, he hasn't shown any disability to completely outclass his opponents. So I think Khan should be credited with one of the best wins of this era if he wins.

Talking about whether Mayweather is prime or not, first off takes away from the point of the thread - because that really wasn't what it was about, but secondly already discredits Khan a bit should he win.

I think we all know that Mayweather was better in say, 2007 than he is now, regardless if Khan beats him and that gets mentioned that would be to discredit him his victory imo.

Exactly that's the point, it's discrediting it (rightfully) but not completely which it why the options are wrong.

Khan will get a lot of credit if he wins, it will be a momumental win. Anyone who takes Mayweather's 0 will go down in history.

But he won't have a win over a Prime Mayweather.

There's a lot of talk about Mayweather being somewhere past prime, and no doubt he is but so is Khan in the eyes of most so it's completely irrelevant. If Floyd loses, it's to a past prime Khan and vice versa.

          I can agree to that.

I think the key difference is that Khan has never reached the same heights as Mayweather.

I've seen posters respond to you saying if Khan won they wouldn't give him credit and they say Floyd is PFP #1, best fighter in the world etc.

But the same people also say Khan is past his best, was better in 2010, better under Roach, Garcia's leftovers, struggled to beat Julio Diaz, doesn't deserve the fight etc.

They can't have it both ways. This fight is a clash of styles. Floyd looked in good nick v Canelo, Khan wasn't impressive v Diaz. If Khan wins, imo he can't be denied full credit on the basis Floyd is past prime because he's coming into the fight looking worse.

I think it would be one of the biggest shocks in sport in history and the greatest ever victory by a British sportsman.

                Prohibitive underdog is an understatement.

I don't think Khan's passed his prime he's just on a bad run and not on form.

How old is he 27? Age is just a number and he's been pro for a while now but I don't think he's passed prime at all.

I'll give him credit if he wins 3-4 rounds, let alone win 7+.
