I watched it on boxnation. watt nor the other guy gave takam any credit. he was feeling him out the first 4-5 rounds & then he realized he could walk right through perez's punches. that is when he turned it on. the cut from the butt never bled & takam forced the issue as soon as he knew perez couldn't hurt him. i'm not sure about perez's mental state going in but I certainly saw a discouraged fighter when takam was pressuring him. in my opinion it was takam who was the issue not perez's mental state from the previous fight. the headbutt & pressure was too much for perez. maybe he should have taken more time off after the magomed fight.

I never saw the greg tony or botha fights but from what I've seen in the grant & perez fights is pretty good stuff. perez is a southpaw so that too may have led to takam's slow start. he is a big man! his neck & calves stuck out to me. he is a mack truck! not sure the stone to pounds conversion but perez is about 220lbs & he looked like he could hide behind takam. he must be at least 250...

I admittedly wasn't able to watch the fight last night. I'd thought it would probably be a close fight, but when I read on AP it was a draw, and that it was apparently a boring fight, I decided to post on this forum without reading any comments. My guess considering the inflated popularity of Perez, that most of these comments will either say
        1. Perez was robbed
        2. Perez lost his will to fight after Mago
Maybe I'm wrong, but after I post this, I'll look at the comments and be surprised if there aren't at least some comments to this effect. And like I said, I haven't see the fight yet, but its extremely rare for #1 to be accurate, especially with a draw, Lewis Holyfield I is the only one that comes to mind as a true robbery, and #2 is just fanboy fiction. The fact is, they both had comparable resume's, and the resulting draw isn't surprising. They're both borderline top 20 HW's, nothing more, nothing less.

So, looks like most people accept Perez either lost or earned the draw, but #2 is sure coming out of the woodwork.

I gave the first 5 rounds to Mike (1-5) and the last 5 rounds to Carlos (6-10)
I believe Carlos looked more impressive in the rounds he won compared to the rounds Mike won. Thats might of given the impression Takam won but it was scored correctly. Had Takam turned it on earlier....
I also believe the cut affected Perez in a way

6'2 256lbs... takam is going to be a hard man to move. he usually is around 240 but many of his fights have no recorded weights. he didn't look fat at all. he didn't throw much early but come round 5 he was winging them. I really want to see this guy fight again. get him in there with chisora. Is Cameroon a commonwealth country? if it is then a fight with lucas browne would be interesting.

"Fanboy fiction"? You don't think that nearly killing a man, putting him in a coma and probably ruining the rest of his life might affect a fighter? The Mago fight may or may not be the cause of Perez's underwhelming performance last night, but to dismiss the possibility of that fight weighing on Mike's psyche is both cynical and naive.

Kellerman was right on the money tonight. It was easily a 5-5 fight and considered a draw. However Perez got beaten up clearly in the rounds he lost as to Takam losing his rounds closely. If they scored the fight by the amount of damage dished and received Takam owned Perez. I'm just happy both lived to fight another day.

It was a bad decision. But Takam is a beast and obviously improved since a loss to oft beaten kick boxer Tony Gregory several years ago. He's strong, tough and seems in decent condition for such a heavily muscled guy. Perhaps he was affected by the Mago fight. You gotta say Takam would be in the thick of it with anyone not named Wladimir.
