Yeah. I believe that was Floyd's 2nd fight at welter as well. One of my personal favs because the style he needed to fight in order to break Zab down was unlike any other style we saw him fight up to that point.

Also, he pretty much laid the blueprint on how Zab couldn't deal with body shots. Cotto followed that to a tee and that's when Cotto was a body first fighter.

I thought it was? Wasn't it basically considered official until Pacquiao's side complained about the blood testing after the fact?

Manny is a rhythm fighter who is not disciplined and easily frustrated by feints etc which is why JMM always troubles him. The last thing Manny wants to ring is think. Once he starts thinking, you have him right where you want him. Zab and Manny are 2 different animals and that was possibly the best version of Zab we've seen due to the personal history between the 2 but as usual, Floyd adjusted and the fight was over.
Sure Manny has his weaknesses. ..but when's the last time a guy came out clean when he fought Manny? Even Marquez was a bloody mess in the 4th fight before the KO.. I just think Floyd would either have to decide to run all night or sit and exchange at some point. If he could blank Manny the way he does these B class guys hhe's been fighting then Hey, what can you say, hes obviously by far the best of this generation.

          Not a chance.

Exactly. So beating Zab meant nothing much at all, given his flaws. He was coming off a loss to CB and lost all of his titles. Floyd fought him anyway, just 'cause BUT won't fight Manny after a win. Smh. He's over-rated man. He should always be favored to win because he only takes fights, he KNOWS he will win. It's simple really. It has nothing to do with his "skills". Every fight Cotto takes, he can lose. Every fight that Manny takes, he can lose. Pretty much every fight that Ward takes, he can lose as well. You get where I am going with this? Boxing is about competing against the best, not worrying about your record or how much tax problems another fighter has. What happened to giving the people what they want? Isn't that important as well? Besides, ODH is Floyd's daddy and showed him how to get money, and we the fans, MADE HIM. For anyone who defends his cowardness, isn't a true fan at all.

            Castillo 2.

Of course I was wrong and it ended up being a shutout but that's the last time I thought he would actually lose.

the same could be said for manny. who fought morales after he lost to zahir raheem. at least floyd fought both baldo and zab. Manny didn't fight raheem. So if you are going to criticize at least be honest.

Zab really didn't have any great footwork either..now imagine Manny moving around shooting straight lefts down the pipe and using different angles putting 4-5 punches together.
Floyd would have had The fight of his life and he knew it...
thats night & day to me. Zab was pretty slick back then, even faster than Pac, and was a placement counter puncher. I think that would give Floyd more problems than an Offensive guy who is throwing non stop while Floyd is countering. You also have to take into account that Floyd has gotten better every single fight against Southpaws. Its like the JLC stuff. People bring up that fight like thats how you can beat him without ever aknowledging that Floyd has gotten alot better since then.

With that being said, Ive always said there is 2 ways to have a shot against Floyd. If youre a righty then you have to be just so big & strong that Floyd cant overcome it. I say that because I think he has mastered his D against righties so they pretty much have no shot. No righty will beat him unless he goes to MW and even then only a chosen few have a shot. Othen then that you have to be a Southpaw who catches him with one shot to where they knock him out or hurt him so bad that it last for a long time like Forrest did Mosley in there 1st fight.

Its no coincedence that most think the only guys who have a shot are the likes of Pac, Sergio, Lara, and maybe Trout until recently. All Southpaws

Zab had fast hands but he didn't really have great footwork. He didn't come from all different angles and of course we know how he reacts to adversity. Not saying Pac would win but I think it would be Floyds toughest fight..

Pac's footwork is 50/50. You ask one group and they say he has the best footwork in the game. You ask the next group and they say he has terrible footwork and is always offbalance

                      Morales is a HOF'mer.

At least Morales is a HOF'mer. What is Carlos? What is Zab? They aren't nearly as good as Morales, or as credible. Manny's resume and Floyd's overall resume, can't be compared. Floyd will not fight just anybody. Manny WILL. It is why he's the best of this era, and not Floyd. Floyd did it to himself and now his fans are turning on him. It's about time.
