If a guy throws a punch at me, and I move my head out of the way. And a guy throws a punch at you, and you block it. Why would someone say that I had better defense than you or vice versa?

I used to think it was Whitaker and it wasn't even close. But as Floyd's career progresses, it really is amazing how little punishment he's taken fight to fight. He really is a defensive master on par with Whitaker. But I still have to give Pea the edge because of his high quality of opposition.

He did all the things you mentioned, and used his jab, parried, blocked inside body shots with his elbows with PERFECT timing. Like something out of a boxing handbook. Had perfect timing on head shots with his gloves.

          Are you joking, man?
Please don't talk to me about no damn Pernell man, you're barking up the wrong tree. If you read, I clearly stated that his defense was primarily based on his physical abilities. I never stated that he lacked text book defensive skills bruh, chill.

Amazing? He moves in cadence with his opponents at twice the speed and athleticism. They're never in position to touch him and when they are it's because Floyd is setting them up for a counter strike. It's brilliant what he does but it's hardly mystical.

Slow being the optimal word. Slow of foot, that is. And yes, he does seem to make them look just like punching bags, doesn't he?

That isn't because he's Houdini. He's Allen Iverson going to town on the all White squad from Hoosiers.

                And Floyd's isn't either? What?

They both relied on perfectly timed movements, except Floyd's style is more reliant on getting hit, but rolling with shots, whereas Pernell's style is to not get hit at all.

Agree. Floyd is all about distance and his guard. Pernell was the more versatile defender.

And Pernell was the better mover in the ring. Moving around and getting your back pinned to the ropes doesn't equal great movement. Obviously, Floyd's a great mover, but Pernell could move, and stay in the same spot, not get hit, then move completely out.

The man would have you going in directions he wants you to go in, and be on the completely other side of you, and walking off while doing a little dance. That's called movement.

That's exactly what I just said but whatever man lol, it's all a matter of who's style you prefer. Bottom line, you can't hit either one of em with a bucket of rice.

                      Whittaker...

It's close and both superb but I gotta say Whittaker plus he did it vs top level competition like azumah Chavez Oscar mcgirt etc

Floyd is better offensively but sweet pea the better defender
