again, are you talking about amateur boxing in your original post, or simply throwing out a red herring? [i know the answer to this quiestion, mind you. you were not talking about amateur boxing in your original post, and this line of inquiry is irrelevant and intended to distract from the point i made, which is that boxing [pro boxing] is ordered financially.]
the amounts weren't disclosed to my knowledge, but everybody in the WSB was paid an allowance with the idea that they would remain amateurs. the AIBA also wanted him to join a league they were trying to push called the APB, which would pay amateurs while allowing them to compete in the olympics.
top amateurs are regularly given allowances to train, and have their housing, travel, and living expenses covered by both state and private interests. this can be anything from a PAL [police athletic league,] fundraiser to get kids into a national tournament, to bonafide grants and subsidies coming from the state.
posters like yourself don't actually read stuff like this and learn anything, but i want to demonstrate the involvement of the state in the cuban national program. this is a wikipedia article. it should be a quick, easy read.

you really think a dirt poor kid from communist cuba is paying to fly around the world and box?
