I like Manny the fighter better than Floyd the fighter but I understand why Floyd do not want to do business with Arum based on their history. The problem is that it is us the boxing fans that does not get the fight we want, that is a shame.

Floyd is like a baby throwing a temper tantrum making any excuse he can think of to avoid the fight because he knows its on the table now with the higher ups. This dude is a mamas boy and clearly wants nothing to do with the fight. He only wants lame opponents right now

Gotta love the internet, where everyone's a tough-guy

But I get where you are coming from on the being ripped off in the past. But Floyd has never really shared that experience. Arum has talked about it quite a bit and always described a very respectful working relationship with Floyd. I don't think anyone disagrees that Floyd made the right decision to get away from Arum, but don't let his bit talk fool you. That dude doesn't manage his own career. You see the way he blows through money? And lets not forget, three years ago it was HIM that had Uncle Sam tickling at his back door waiting to knock a shot off. He was in big tax trouble and he couldn't blame that on Arum.
No, his career is managed by Al Haymon and Leonard Ellerbe, both are well educated and stick VERY strictly to their gameplan for making Floyd the success that he is. They may say Floyd calls the shots but that's because they need to keep that dude happy... and Floyd is happy only when Floyd feels he's in charge. But SOMEONE behind the scenes... someone powerful... does not want this fight. I've heard many rumors that it was actually Floyd Sr. that put the bug in Jr.'s ear.

Even when it's a Golden Boy fighter he's up against -- it was a flat fee. Floyd Mayweather was responsible for cutting the check to his opponent, not Golden Boy. Again, that is why if a natural disaster happened, he would potentially lose tens of millions of dollars, because most of the marketing and even the fight purse was coming out of his pocket. But the ROI is so huge, it's worth it despite the risk. This was during the HBO days though. Not sure about the details of the Showtime deal.
Floyd hasn't shared that experience of being ripped off in the past? And not by Bob Arum? I don't think there is an elite fighter that Arum didn't play financially. He's also gone on record to say that Haymon and Ellerbe manages his career business-wise. But he obviously still has a say because at the end of the day -- he is the prize fighter. Not Haymon, not Ellerbe. And for this same reason, that's why you saw 50 Cent having letters sent to try and persuade Floyd to get rid of Haymon. Haymon can't fire Floyd, but Floyd can fire Haymon.
I feel the same about Pacquaio. People kinda think Arum, Konz, Roach, are more powerful over Pacquaio than Pacquaio himself. But really, Pacquaio has more power than all of them. It's just a matter of him using that power or realizing it.
