Heck, I also write for The Ring and am regularly critical of Golden Boy and/or its fighters both in the pages of that magazine as well as on this website and on Twitter.

It's still a conflict of interest but I don't think you did it in a malicious purposeful manner actually by what you saying sounds more like you had no idea the banner was gonna be right next to your article, and since you are a writer you probably have nothing to do with that. However point is that it's pretty hard to take an article seriously when you go half way through it you see that the site it is on has paid advertisement by the people said article is defending.

Is as if somebody wrote an article how Marquez K.O of Pacquiao was a lucky punch and is explaining his seemingly unbiased opinion of why he thinks that way, and then half way through the read a paid banner for top rank with a picture of Manny Pacquiao on it is right next to the article. That would raise anybodies eyebrow.

Dude, I'm a career journalist who teaches college journalism. There's such a thing as a barrier between advertising and newsroom. When I covered politics in New Hampshire, we received political ads in our newspaper, all while we did our jobs on the news side.

And if you think my article is "defending" Mendez, you're reading it wrong. I'm coming to the same conclusion that an overwhelming majority of boxing observers came to on Friday night, all while examining the issue.

You can't watch last Friday fight and be knowledgeable of the rules of boxing without coming to the conclusion that it was a messed up end — and, as I noted toward the end of my article, it also robbed Barthelemy of what seemed the likelihood that he would get a victory without controversy.

Can you not see how incredibly nonexistent your barrier seems to people who read your article and see that banner right next to it ? Not everyone who reads your article is taking your class, and like I said I believe you and you don't work on the website technical staff you just wrote the article, and probably had no idea but anybody else who has not read what you have said to me, and just reads the article half way through it they are going to think that such thing is fishy looking, and even the most unbiased perfectly reasonable opinion seems shady just like that.

Especially when the damn thing is literally next to your article albeit unintentionally it still looks shady, kinda like the knock out unintentional but it happened non the less and it looks bad. And we came full circle point made

It was a great article. Read the way the majority of the boxing fans feel, being it was an unfortunate ending to what should have been a great win.

The poster DannYankee just tries to circle jerk people around with nonsense, you probably already notice by now.

Anyways good job David, great work as usual.

Are you even serious? You are trying to divert it into some type of pro mendez propaganda?

You clearly never have, punch someone that late in a sparring session and see what happens

David, I think what DaddyYankee is referring to is that while we know what you just explained to us here, some people reading the article might not. Remember, not everyone visits the forums.

He got me obviously not you it ends on the first thing i been saying all along some time **** isn't black or white some times they are grey. It was an unintentional foul just like in the fight you people treat boxing like it's tennis or something with rules and intangibles a lot of boxing is left to be judged by a human being and there is no automatic DQ's in boxing.
