all this is centering around a ref's slowness & inability 2 reqct, which Pete Podgorski is noted 4, a very poor ref...his big knock, from what I've been told is he endangers boxers by letting bouts go 2 long...
Mendez will really be endangered if they put him back in there with Barthelemy again. Back to back KO's won't be a good look.

Yeah, I'm feeling like if they turn this outcome to a nc then he would probably be best served to move up to 135 or even 140. And just vacate the title. I really think it would be better for him that way. I really felt like he coming in at 128 1/2 lbs was probably too much and I'm not taking anything away from Barthelemy. However, he seemed so weak and I never seen him like that before. Best of luck.
Whats funny is I wanted really hard to believe this article was unbiased but somehow I had a hard time focusing on it because of those advertising banners must be just me.
100% objective article.....seems legit.
I've been writing for this site for close to 10 years now, and not once has my opinion been anything but my own. I've never had anyone say to me, "Hey, this company advertises for us, be nice to them." Nor would anyone. Nor would I do that.
Heck, I also write for The Ring and am regularly critical of Golden Boy and/or its fighters both in the pages of that magazine as well as on this website and on Twitter.

I remember you commenting on the weight too. You thought it was a good sign but I guess it wasn't after all.
I like Mendez and I hope he bounces back but I don't think a rematch would be smart. You gotta think, how is he gonna react psychologically a rematch?

To be honest I was happy because lately we had so many people not making weight and all. But in my mind I thought it was little strange that he came in 1 1/2lbs under when he usually came in on point...130lbs. And they have mentioned of him moving up as well but I can't say that weight had anything to do with it. Maybe he just can't take Barthelemy's power. It might be just that....I have to keep it real.
My opinion has not changed since Friday . A NC would have been exceptable . A DQ would have been an outrage . The ref was cleary out of position and could have prevented it. A rematch is fine but not advised for Mendez cause I see the same result .

Like they said during the commentating, why would you come so light vs a guy who can punch and isn't little by any means.

Fighters are supposed to stop punching at the bell, but the heat of the moment is why we so often hear referees advising the boxers to listen for the bell, and why we so often see referees jumping in at the bell to prevent any further punching.
“It is good practice to take advantage of the 10-second announcement towards the end of the round by getting in good position so that you will be centered to the boxers at the actual end of the round,” advises the Association of Boxing Commissions in its rules and guidelines for referees. “Get in a centered position, call out ‘Time!’ and concurrently announce the end of the round with a hand signal.”
