Basically PAC only has 5 opponents who are welterweight. Rios, Alvarado, provodnikov, Bradley and Marquez. Apart from that top rank have nothing to offer... But they'll probs pay pacquiao big money to keep him. PAC should be fighting all the golden boy fighters which is a shame cause his career has gotten abit boring ATM I miss 2009 pac.

No just because of a ridiculous Floyd demand. ****, Manny is a living legend why would he leave just to please a thug with money, who btw earns his **** from a multitude of people lusting to see him ktfo.

Taxes? Come on, you got to be a moron to think it's only Arum has to blame. With that amount of money involved Manny's in it too whatever they thought they were doing trying to get away with paying x amount of taxes.

On the larger level, I believe Pac and Arum's relationship extends beyond the ring. Manny has political benefits he derives from Arum.

That frames their relationship going forward as a business one and not one based interpersonal dynamics rooted in mutual trust and respect. Bob's out to make a buck and Manny should be out to make a buck.

Self-interest should be deeper than loyalty when you're dealing with a career. If the business relationship is no longer mutual beneficial and Manny opts out, he isn't a traitor he's merely looking out for who he should be looking out for, himself.
No it shouldn't.....However one should be able to ascertain if a person is loyal, or not. The first part of your post speaks for itself....So one aks what kind of a friend is Bob?

If Bob was a friend he would step aside to let this fight happen because it is better for Manny... Period. Thats all we really need to know. On the other hand my friend...Some of us have built relationships where the pathetic excuse "It is just business" is not tolerated. Not saying you are saying it should be BTW but I can tell you from my experiences that I have met plenty of sick individuals like Arum...But when you look carefully there are good people out there that can function as a friend and business partner, they DO exist!

            It's not just about Floyd.

There's no options for him at TR.

Or can stay there and fight the same recycled opponents I'm sure he'd make decent money.

I don't know, considering how close he probably is to retirement, there's nothing besides Floyd that should draw him away from Top Rank. Golden Boy would probably rip him off just as badly as Arum.

Bradley and Provodnikov would be fine, then he'll probably be ready for retirement.

I answered yes in the poll of course to see the superfight but I'm not really that interested to watch pac fight Garcia or Thurman or maidana or khan. It will be one sided.
Who can Marquez beat at 147; he's 1-3 at the weight does that sound like the 4th best welterweight to you.

Yes it should actually, and to think contrary is to court disaster as Manny is doing right now. Boxing is filled with too many cautionary tales for all boxers to see, there's no excuse for entering into a contract so blindly. If a fighter doesn't understand they have to be the final voice on behalf of themselves then welcome to taxville and brokeville. "Loyalty" is relative in usefulness as it relates to how a promoter like Bob Arum fits in as he represents his client. What kind of friend Bob is, is unimportant in a business relationship because what I as a boxer want out of the relationship is promotion period.

If Bob Arum was a friend he wouldn't enter into a contract with Manny or remain in one with him. Its terrible business to step aside and let Manny enrich himself while he's currently under contract, only a very ****** person would do that, and Arum's been doing business since before either of us was alive. Why should Arum step aside when he entered into a contract with a grown man that should have understood the implication of signing with Arum again?

In the end it is just business, if you sign your name on the dotted line then you are under certain obligations, maybe those obligations don't benefit you as much the promoter, but be that as it may a deal is a deal. It isn't about "good" or "evil," these are subjective terms which have no business in a boardroom. This is precisely why we employ professionals like attorneys to negotiate on our behalf.

"A person who represents himself has a fool for a client."
