I'm about as big a tyson fan as you can get but I disagree with his reaction on this . I know he changed and everything but he of all people should know about being in a flurry of throwing punches in the closing seconds of a round . Look at the tyson / ruddock 2 fight .After the bell in first round mike threw 2 punches and was warned for it .then again in the 10 round he got a point deducted for throwing after the bell . It's boxing and the ref is the only one at fault .

Mike's just doing what his job is as a promoter . Can't blame him . If he didn't defend his guy like that i'd question his ability to promote successfully in the future.

The ref the does not have to jump in between fighters the moment the bell rings. It is the fighters responsibility to control their fists and not hit after the bell. Im sure it wasnt on purpose but he did KO him after the bell. Im not sure why Mendez has to lose his belt on a KO after the bell, he's not the one that broke the rules. Hes the one that got robbed

No contest at most seems fair and a rematch. People seem to forget that dude was knocked out by a combo that started before the bell rang ref was caught sleeping and it wasn't an intentional foul like i've said before just like life boxing is not black and white that was some grey **** and the judgement was made by the ref like it would have been regardless there is no "Automatic DQ" in boxing is always up to the ref judgement.

DQ, NC, whatever. Mendez should not have lost on a foul. But how can you call throwing punches "unintentional" or accidental.

Also who cares if the combo started before the bell? What if a fighter wanted to throw a 100 punch combo, that would be ok, even if the bell rang after the 1st punch? The punches that KO'd him were after the bell

Agreed @ RESPECT POWER he's a good promoter protecting his fighters .

But I somewhat disagree Russian Crushin . Look on Wikipedia job of a boxing referee , third one down SIGNAL WHEN ROUND IS OVER ,I didn't see him signal or separating .he was negligent . And dis agreed Mendez got robbed . Homie was going down regardless .

Totally agree . I'm not sure of the exact rule but isn't the ref suppose to break the action at the bell of every round because the fighters may not hear the initial bell. Seems like that would of helped here .My point is Rances is not to blame for what happened .

Nowhere does it say he must jump in-between the fighters. Nowhere does it also say if he doesnt jump in, that the fighters can punch after the bell. He landed after the bell, you cant KO someone after the bell, the fact the he was "on his way out" makes no difference

No he isnt suppose to "break them", nothing in the rules says that.

Why would he hear it and the fighters wouldnt anyway? I cant believe people are actually making scenarios where its ok to punch after the bell, which is never
