Maidana's recent win streak qualifies him for a Mayweather shot, regardless of people's opinions of his chances.
    Not opinions, facts.

If anything he is underrated, really impressed since the Devon fight which people still love bringing up. Maidana has a different trainer now and he is a different fighter since then. Maidana vs Khan 2 is the fight i want to see so everybody will stop telling me "But Khan beat Maidana". Lets see if he can beat him at WW in 2014 under Garcia and Ariza. I doubt it.

Maidana is a much smarter fighter these days, throws combinations, uses the jab to set up his power shots, throw straighter shots when he needs to although his awkward overhand right will always be a danger. he even moves his head more, defense will always be his weakness though those and his offensive tools are sharpening with every fight.

People also doubted he could beat a Maidana in '09 & '10, but he did. And don't try to tell me Maidana is better now than he was at 140.

He's not overrated. He has earned to be where he is in the sport.

          May
          Pac
          Brad
          Porter/Alexander/Maidana

          upcoming threats?: Thurman

          Resume's tell the story.

Maidana has shown despite some lack of boxing skill he has the power, heart, stamina and workrate to make it up there with what are the better guys of the division.

Chino is an inside fighter with no footwork and weak defense.he has no business with floyd nor Thurman,García...Even Alexander schooled him.

Bring him some Mathysse.provo type guys And they ll give us a war, figuring out he GOT a chance against some A real boxers is delusional.
            1000000000000000000000000000% agreed!

I love chino, I like watching him fight, seems like a nice guy but Broner is b+ at best, same level as Maidana in all honesty.

I think Maidana should fight guys like Thurman, Provo, Garcia, Matthysse as you say. His style would be a walk in the park for Floyd.

Broner is quite clearly not on the same level as Maidana.

You complain about him being the front runner like there's people better that Floyd can fight. PAC and Tim not gonna fight Floyd cuz of Bob. Danny isn't going straight to a Floyd fight as his first fight at WW. Lara not getting a shot at 154. Khan is just a name with a crazy fan base. Who else is there??? Besides Chino beating Broner is a legit win.

Just a notch below then. It's not as if Maidana beat an elite fighter, come to think of it, has he ever beaten anyone elite or close to it. Khan is probably the best guy he came close to beating and Khan is just below elite.

But look, I'm not gona down Maidana, I like him and I'd be happy if he got the floyd pay day but its not much of a fight.

I wasn't bigging up Maidana. I'm just saying he beat Broner pretty comfortably. He's a level below Maidana for sure.

Maidana hasn't beaten a PROVEN elite fighter no, but he came close to beating Kotelnik who was pretty good. And he beat Broner who was thought to be elite by some, but quite clearly isn't. At WW at least.

He is better now than in 2010, in the Kotelnik fight in 2009 he used the jab and throws combinations but he didn't get the decision. Since then at 140 he was just looking for that overhand right, misses it by miles at times. Under Garcia he has got back to a more relaxed attack and you can see the difference. Just rewatch the fights with Khan,Ortiz,Cayo, corley,Devon, he is much wilder than he is now.

Khan was much better in 2010 under Roach and most importantly Ariza, since then Khan's legs have looked like twigs and he can't hold a shot again, his already poor punch resistance has gotten worse. maidana at 147 beats Khan. I'm convinced about it.
