Hopefully his fans realize that just about all fighters reach a level where they need to be "selective" about their career decisions. This is not a game, it's Boxing and in order to maximize your career and health, you have to be smart about not just taking on one top threat after another. Golovkin, Kovalev and Maidana will recognize this soon enough. Also their promoters and TV networks have most say in who they fight. It isn't always one fighter ducking another as simple as many keyboard warriors think.

Fans will always want the hard matches, but it doesn't always NEED to happen when we want it.

Why not now? Before Andre outgrows super middleweight and moves up to 175.

Ward is certainly preferable to the Adamas and Ishidas of the world.

Golovkin returns on February 1 in Monte Carlo against Osumanu Adama. Golovkin seems to be focused on cleaning out the middleweight division, and then he'll consider the idea of moving up in weight to face Ward, who will be the odds-on favorite in the fight.

Of course it is not possible right now, Ward has stated he doesn't want the fight. If Ward doesn't want it then it's just a possibility down the road. Ward is scared, then again, so are all the top fighters between 154 and 168.
