Floyd Mayweather vs. Erislandy Lara

Don't get me wrong I know what you're saying. I understand how the business side works and I also know that as soon as Floyd even mentions Lara's name and the potential of the fight being made, people will discredit Lara and who he has and hasn't beaten.I wanna see it too.
The problem with Floyd-Lara is
1. It's not a money fight, far from it.
2. It's not a legacy fight..what has Lara done in his pro career that a win over him would rank Floyd greater than he is as of now?
3. It's stylistically unpleasant.
Don't get me wrong, Maidana fails #'s 1 and 2 as well, but he has #3. Mayweather-Maidana would likely make for a Bull-Matador fight, it'd likely be fun to watch.
If Garcia gets a win at WW against a top 10 guy, with what he's accomplished at 140, I would say Garcia would pass all 3.
However like you, I still want to see it. The only way it would even get the slightest chance is if he starts fighting on the undercard and looking good doing it. No fans, no money, no legacy addition. Outside of a few people that think he COULD beat Floyd, it doesn't hold much weight yet it SHOULD happen especially if this was a perfect world.Comment

He is a WW who looks his best at WW and only went north because of the pay vs the 3 biggest names in the sport not named Pac.
You know he will get paid more to fight either Khan or Maidana. Hell the sad part is, a **** Khan fight would make him more than either Miadana or Lara.
I've seen a lot of people support a Lara fight ATM but of course if it ever got signed people would discredit Lara because he hasn't beaten anyone or is too green or too this and too that. It's the same thing every single time.
Yet, it should happen and if he ever gets on a Floyd PPV undercard its highly plausible. Yet like usual, I will welcome the flip flopping from everyone that calls for the fight NOW but will complain after the fact if it happens.Comment

Beats him or not, if FLoyd moves back up (and its not for one of the middle weights that everyone wants Floyd to fight), it better/should be vs Lara. Especially if he beat Alvarez (assuming GBP even made that fight).
However nobody has the drawing power or fan base to force Mayweather to a weight class he doesn't look good in. Unless someone like Hoya, Alvarez and Cotto emerges, I see Floyd at 147 from here on out fighting all the top contenders and Champions/title holders who have zero ties with Bob Arum.
Saying that, I see Bradley leaving Bob to make the fight before Pac does. Mayweather Bradley is the fight I want to see and I believe it will happen because Bradley won't take **** from Bob and will do as he pleases. But thats just me. I'm not current on his contract deal or how long he has left. Pac has until late 2014.Comment

Some of us support the Lara fight. Some are Floyd haters, some are Lara fans and some just realize is the best fight to be made. But as far as Mayweather FANS go Ive only seen you asking to see it. Maybe there are others, Idk.Originally posted by WESSQuote:

Of course. You'd see Lara-Angulo gifs all over the place, and avatars of Lara with a big lump on his head in the Williams fight. These posters will ask why is Floyd not fighting Pacquiao or go up to 160 like Cotto did and fight Martinez (if Martinez beats Cotto). He is a WW who looks his best at WW and only went north because of the pay vs the 3 biggest names in the sport not named Pac.

With that said, if Martinez beats Cotto, I really don't see a bigger fight out there that can realistically be made than Mayweather vs Martinez. That fight would be 1. Money fight, 2. Legacy fight, and 3. Probably fun to watch.Comment

I do think Mayweather-Bradley happens too. That fight would be good for Mayweather's legacy. Unless Bradley loses between here and then.

I've hardly seen anyone not support it. But I don't really care too much what other people think about it and haven't paid much attention. Mostly because I know its a waste to even think about it since Floyd is 99% fighting at WW in May.Some of us support the Lara fight. Some are Floyd haters, some are Lara fans and some just realize is the best fight to be made. But as far as Mayweather FANS go Ive only seen you asking to see it. Maybe there are others, Idk.

Maybe it will be a re-run of this year; WW in May, JMW in Sep? Who knows? If the money is right, I see him going north. If it's not, I see him staying at 147 from here on out. Especially since the two biggest fights are actually at WW (Bradley and Pac).Comment
