Originally posted by LacedUp View PostI remember after the Zab Judah fight, Lampley asked Lennox Lewis if Mayweather would face the best at 140-147 "like Oscar de la Hoya, Mosley or Hatton. Even Cotto".
Incidentally, the original 3 Lampley mentioned were the subsequent 3 fights for Mayweather and the ones everybody wanted at the time. And yet, they are sometimes referred to as cherrypicks.
It's just ridiculous.
Floyd cherry picked them at the tail end of their careers just like he did hernandez and what he has literally done his whole career. He is not going to get bravery awards for fighting them. He isn't retired so of course he had to fight them, but he had a notorious reputation for ducking fighters and not letting people see fights that they wanted, so people wouldn't have been surprised if Floyd chose not to fight SSM or DLH. But the fact that he did fight them, don't mean he should be patted on the back and going beyond the call of duty, he hardly fights afterall.
But ideally people want to see Floyd fight and beat better people than yesterdays generation of very good fighters.
Just because he beat them, don't make out as if he is doing anything everyother boxer in all the other divisions isn't doing.! So again he is a cherry picker, for supposedly being the best in the sport but only dining on yesterdays good fighters and thinking that is enough to justify how good he is supposed to be. Don't try turn the fact that people say Floyd is considered a cherry picker into a positive for Floyd. It reflects badly on FloydLast edited by hugh grant; 12-28-2013, 06:19 AM.

"Oh, I was lieing then."
That's a beautiful Bob Arum-Esque spin from you. "Yesterday I was lieing, today I'm telling the truth".
So you didn't want Floyd to fight Mosley despite the fact you were extremely adamant that he'd knock him out and were shouting to the rooftops that Mayweather is ducking him and afraid of him? Yeah, right.
Not because you believed they would win? YOU SAID THEY WOULD WIN.
You were on here doing breakdowns as to why they would beat Mayweather.
Your classic line of "All Ortiz needs to do is pressure Mayweather, it's that easy. He will win the fight"
It doesn't matter why or what your excuse is as to why you've picked someone. You still picked them to beat him. What does that have to do with why you picked them? Why you picked them is irrelevant. You picked them to win the fight.
If you picked Mosley and Ortiz to beat Floyd, which you did, then it is literally impossible to consider those cherry picks because you picked them to beat him. How can a fighter possibly cherry pick a fighter that you think he'll lose to? It's impossible to have both options.
In your own words, Mayweather can't be a cherry picker. He only fights guys who will either beat him (In your opinion) or someone you openly are calling for him to fight.
Doesn't change that neither Khan or Maidana belong in the ring with the supposed best fighter in the world. "It's ok cause Maidana has a title"? Sure, it's still bull$H1t. Khan is trash any way you put it. You laugh when people say they believe ward or Rigo are better. But your best wants to fight Khan or Maidana and put it on ppv to boot.
The best fighter in the world hints at khan or Maidana. Say it out loud. The best fighter..... fighting khan or Maidana.

"Yesterday I was lieing, today I'm telling the truth"
So you weren't lieing about Mosley and Cotto (So that's 2 of the last 5 he hasn't cherry picked)
But you were lieing when you were on here daily talking about how Ortiz was going to beat Mayweather? And how he's rejuvenated at 147 and a different animal due to his doubles output at 147? And how all he'd have to do was pressure and he'd win? That was all a lie? Months worth of "Lies".I really think that's THE most pathetic excuse I've ever read, honestly.

Rigondeaux has 13 fights. I doubt he'd consider himself better than Mayweather at this point either.
Ward just fought Rodriguez and Rigondeaux just fought Agebko and they're supposed to be P4P calibur fights yet Maidana isn't?
Khan's not a worthy fight but how isn't Maidana? He's one of the top contenders in Mayweather's weight class and one of the belt holders and one a good WW run and worthy of the Belt. I've got no issue as long as Mayweather continues to fight top contenders around him which Maidana is.

Absolutely. Mainly because Ward himself doesn't say he's better.

I'd consider it understandable for Ward to face Rodriquez coming off of a long lay-off due to injury. As opposed to say a multi year hiatus cause $h!t was getting hot in his division. Anyhow I'm getting tired of Ward because he seems to be wanting to fight everyone but credible opponents.
I noticed you're beating around the bush with Maidana or khan. I would too. I'd talk about everything else to try and not have to justify Maidana/Khan fighting Floyd. Either are $h!t fights, I know it, you know it. And that's really all that matters.

Ward's done nothing in years. Rigondeaux has a handful of impressive in his 13 fight career and these guys are apparently ahead of Mayweather.

Here it is again in black and white;
Khan's a joke of a fight. Said it endless times.
Maidana's a good solid fight against one of the top contenders and titlsts in Mayweather's weight class coming off an impressive string of victories.
Pretty clear there, and no beating around any bushs.
You said the other day that Madiana is Legitimate. Oh but apparently legitimate and good aren't the same thing.
Were you telling the truth then? Or were you lieing?

You'd consider it understandable. No surprise there.

I'm not sure how well you read, because I don't see where I'm beating around the bush.
